To make it work, you would have to combine with a concert, movie, or something. I just can't see that many fans shelling out $30-40 for something they can watch at home with a $10 twelve pack instead of a $10 single beer. Yeah, the board is amazing, but most people have HD now and the convience and low cost of home wins out in my mind.

I think its a great idea. If I were there, I would certainly go.

Watching a game on that screen and enjoying it all w/ a bunch of other Cowboys fans.

Anyone else tired of it being called "JerryWorld"?

Yeah, after the first time i heard it.

This sounds like a good idea, but if it was that profitable i'm sure Jerry would be doing it.

As has been mentioned, its probably not worth 'turning the lights on' for. Or maybe its a network deal? Maybe theyd worry Jerry would pipe in Papa John commercials over Chevrolet.:D

From the very first time I heard it claled that it has annoyed me. It is meant as a slap at Jerry but in reality it slaps the whole team because it is Cowboys Stadium after all. Every time it is called that it makes the stadium about Jerry not the legacy of the team.

That's a good question. He might have to charge more than $15.

Jerry would never overcharge the fans to attend Cowboys Stadium to watch an away game.

I would think that the rights fees would negate any chance at making a profit. Despite owning the team, Jones doesn't own the broadcast.

However, the same can be said of sports bars that telecast events. Basically the stadium becomes a giant sports bar.

I think he could get the rights pretty easily. It would be a dang cool opportunity.

Nice to see you posting by the way. Quit your danged lurking. ;)

if he did it only for "big" games and kept the novelty factor in there
it would be a great idea.
i would be going to it for sure.

I was also thinking about movie premiers....

Like a big action movie.

If they had done this then they could set w world record for most people in one place to see a movie.

40,000 X 10 people = 400,00

10,000 X 15 Cars = 150,000

40,000 X 2 Drink and popcorn...... = 480,000

I agree that if it were used as a novelty it might work. Maybe only open it up in the event of a road playoff game. Or, if you are going to open it up during the regular season do it only during the NFC East rivalry games when we are in their house.

Most bars are charged on a maximum capacity basis for the rights to show the games. Take what an owner pays for a 300 seat establishment and push that up to 100,000 seats.

The problem is that no one at a bar or stadium counts in the all important ratings which helps set the advertisement pricing.

It is a great idea but not as simple from that standpoint as some might think.

:welcome:

I don't know about the economic feasibility of it, but it sounds like a great idea, especially for night games on the road. I can see a lot of people going for that.

This reminds me of when the NFL was flirting with the idea of showing all the Sunday games at participating movie theaters.

San Antonio was rumored to be a test bed for that and I was really interested in experiencing a game at a movie theater. I think they finally scrapped the idea.

Psst, the rest of us saps in the upper levels are paying $59 a game to do just that right now. Yeah there's a live game going on but you can't really see what's happening very well. 100+Feet is really very far to try to watch live action. I ended up watching the entire game on the jumbo tron and to be quite honest if it wasn't up there I would have probably left. So now I gotta decide if I wanna see the rest of the games on Jerry's big screen or mine at home.:(

The stadium is immense folks. A realistic price for nose bleed should be around $25 because after you pay for parking and concessions, it just doesn't make any sense. I love the team very very much, I'm a second generation fan but after I climbed to the very very top of the stadium (The 25th and final row of Sec 435,) I began to realize I need to win the freaking lottery so I can afford better seats...:laugh2:
