The New York Giants have decided how they're gonna handle receiver Plaxico Burress. We can safely say it's not the Cowboys' way.

Burress is facing gun charges for taking a loaded gun into a nightclub. He accidentally shoots himself in the leg and the Giants have suspended him for the year.

A star in the Super Bowl last year, Giants suspend him this year.
Not the Cowboys say, but here's another example of what happens when special athletes get special treatment. A doctor at the hospital where Burress was treated has been suspended too.

She was part of the cover-up and it's always the cover up that gets you in trouble.

Haven't they said that the previous injury, along with the gunshot wound, probably would have kept him out the rest of the season anyways?

Oh yeah? I haven't seen Pierce disciplined just yet, or the third Giants player involved. Pierce is said to have been an active participant in the cover up, and also, "possessed" the same gun. Let's not get too carried away with lauding the Giants.

I think they said about 3-4 weeks. But now he will miss the playoffs too.

PR suspension more then anything else he wouldn't have played again this season anyways with those injuries so they put him on IR then "suspended" him

Lets see if they suspend Pierce if reports of him hiding the gun is true

It's alarming how often I'm shocked at the inability of the Dallas media to comprehend simple situations. I should really learn to expect this type of thing.

The third guy is Ammad Bradshaw, who has to go back to jail when the season is over, for something else! If this was our team we would get hammered! The commish is a JOKE!

Pacman shouldn't have been suspended by Goodell nor should he have been suspended by Jones....give us another example of cowboys not handling players correctly.......

We don't know how the Cowboys would treat a player that was arrested, because we haven't had one arrested in years -- unlike pretty much every other team in the league, of course.

I think we've had some no namers get arrested and then cut....someone posted a link to the players that's been arrested since 2000 it was a good link.

In the past five years, what Cowboys player has been arrested WHILE he's been a Cowboy?

Oh there you go with the facts again.

This conversation is strictly about perceptions and stereotypes.

I am curious how she covered it up. I would think a bullet hole speaks for itself.

I partly disagree. Pacman should have been suspended by the NFL. He did not adhere to the rules of his league probation. Jerry Jones on the other hand did the correct thing and did not suspended Pacman because Pacman did not break any team rules.

Pacman is a poor example and there are not any current examples to use to describe the handling of players by the Cowboys.

I do think it is kind of empty that Burress is being suspended when the Giants already know that he physically can't contribute the rest of the regular season any way. I am sure the suspension would be different if Burress had a clean bill of health. And has already been pointed out, the Giants have done nothing about Pierce at this point.

She was supposed to report the GSW to the police and didn't.

She didn't report it, which by law, she has to - is my understanding

Didn't the Giants also have a DUI a few weeks ago? they swept that one under the rug pretty quickly

None arrested, but Dallas has had two guys suspended due to drug or performance enhanced drug use. Both guys were cut after they came back from suspension. That seems to be good handling of both players.

Exactly. This move by the Giants is nothing more than acknowledging the fact that he wasn't going to play again this year anyway. Since they used the "non-football injury" list, they probably get some cap benefits, too.

If they had suspended Pierce, I might have a different opinion. I guess toting a gun in a bar is a bad thing but crossing state lines with an illegal weapon is OK.
