What’s wrong with Cowboys defense?

The LB are playing like poo. That is killing us in the run and in middle coverage. The leadership of Lee and Church has been sorely missed. So many missed assignments it's sickening.

whats wrong?
the Cowboys need 2 things
a fast linebacker that can run hit and cover
and this guy

If so many are missing assignments I can think of a few reasons why
1. Dumb players
2. Coaching is poor
3. Maybe not blown assignment but scheme failure against today's offenses

The middle of the defense is a disaster.

No one tech.

Mlb is not ready.

Heath hasn't panned out.

Look at the best defenses in the league, typically they have little issues in the middle.

Start Woods and Hitchens, sign Bowman, trade for Alan Branch or Danny Shelton, it would help.

Until the loss vs the Rams, the last 20 times a team scored 30 and had 2 turnovers, that team won the game.
No, they didn't. Well, technically, if you limit the points scored to exactly 30. But lots of teams scored more than 30, turned it over twice and lost the game. No idea why you would choose to exclude those.

The Rams did it to the 49ers the week before they did it to us, in fact. Also in week 3, the Texans turned it over twice and lost to the Patriots 36-33. It happens not infrequently.

Since 2016, teams are 9-8 in games where they score 30+, turn it over at least twice and have TO margins of -1 or -2.

The Cowboys should have won both of the last two games/
Yeppers! I sat in my neighborhood sports bar for both those games,,, that Packers loss was tough to stomach,,, and I only left the bartender a $2 tip under a half bottle of beer, cuz' I had to get away from what I'd witnessed ( she only see's me during football and she doesn't even take my debit card anymore, while I'm running a tab,,,cuz' I do tend to get the folks on my flanks at the bar drinking with me:lmao:)

:starspin:

I HATE the packers. Every time we play them I find myself screaming 'holding' all game. I was right.

Thanks for putting that on the board,,, I watched &listened to all 13:30 of it and due the buffering it took at least 30 min. To watch,,,o_O,,, so,,,my walk away take on it ? ,,,COACHING WHETS A RAZOR EDGE to the TALENT that ALL N.F.L. caliber PLAYERS have,,, it can even elevate boarder line morons in the intelligence casing-liner category several rungs upo_O

( I loved watching it and the breakdown on it,,, thanks friend,,, *FOLLOWING* now)

So include them. Not that a sample of teams that scored more than 30 is relevant to the Rams game anyway, but those teams won 75% of the time when they had 2 turnovers. To look at it another way, if you score more than 30 points and turn it over twice in every game, your most likely record is 12-4.

Since 2016, teams are 9-8 in games where they score 30+, turn it over at least twice and have TO margins of -1 or -2.
But most teams that scored 30+ and turned it over twice (not "at least" twice, but twice, as Dallas did vs. the Rams) didn't have negative turnover margins anyway. They averaged two takeaways in the game to help them get their 30+ points.

So the offense has now scored 30+ two games in a row (and 28+ three games in a row) without the benefit of a defensive takeaway. The average team that scored that many points would have had 5 takeaways over that stretch.

I get why things would suffer with Lee out. But the secondary communication is just as important. I don't think :Lee is handling that.

You might be right about the Church thing. And no, before someone jumps my case and thinks we should never have signed him back, I agree.

In fact, the whole defense is built weird. Edges in. Corners and edge rushers, but nothing of any substance through the middle.

Nothing at DT. And yes I am counting Collins.

Nothing at MLB. Poor Jaylon is over matched.

Nothing at either FS or SS.
