What’s your thoughts on Dan Campbell?

That’s why we are discussing a coaching change. Any discussion of a GM change is just a waste of time. Some of us are still hopeful that a new coach can effect change.
 
I don't see anything special about him outside of being employed by Sean Payton. Still, that's not exactly anything to get excited about. I've seen where he's scheduled to be interviewed by the Cardinals, Browns and Packers, however, so there's obviously some interest in him by other NFL teams.

A little limited that he’s never been a head coach at any level that Ive heard of, but of course Garrett wasn’t either so that’s not a disqualifier

well he was the interim dolphins head coach and has been the assistant head coach in new orleans for a few years.

If he brought long time assitants like Pete Carmichael with him and someone equivalent on defense it would probably be a good staff. He could bring Mike Nolan with him as DC. I don't know that he would raid payton's staff like that however.

He also could bring the bengals Head Coach Zac taylor and DC lou Anarumo here to be part of the staff if they all get fired.

Thanks for that info. He is pretty well connected and could very well be Jerry’s Guy but who knows what the hell Jerrys decision will be predicated on. I’m just anxious for a change here. Jason’s had a long tenure
 
He'd be way down the list. Jerry needs a big time coach/leader to rescue his super bowl aspirations.

Al Davis ego'd plenty of teams to the super bowl. He was what Jerry wanted to be. ....... a true football man and innovator.
 
Theres others I prefer but any new coach would draw me back into being excited to watch this team again

its been 10 years since i willingly watched a cowboys game with passion and excitement
 
If you are targeting top asst. on a good teams staff it would be good to have some kinda idea if they would be interested without breaking the tampering rule. Right after game 16 there will be coaches fired and the process will start for those teams. Good coaches might get gobbled up while waiting or those asst. might have designs on another team. The Boys may have to settle if they drag their feet.

EDIT: you may be able to interview asst for HC jobs at a certain point in the playoffs if given permission like Richards last year so don't drag your feet if you see a fit be aggressive.

Don't want another ex-player / friend type under Jerry. Has to be a coach with no ties emotionally to the DSDG (Delusional Senile Drunk Guy).

yep its a crapshoot.

I really don't think campbell will be a guy Jerry takes seriously. If you have ever listened to Campbell he sounds like parcells and payton, he believes in the things those guys do. Most of his ties are to those coaches or the guys in miami. Even payton has brought in a lot of guys from the cowboys parcells years and the parcells miami years....He has aaron glenn, mike nolan, dan campbell on his staff in new orleans.

I bet jerry sees campbell as a garrett without the politician aspect. He would be a no nonsense straight forward guy. I don't think that is what Jerry is looking for.

Plus I also think Jerry is going to feel burned by having given garrett every opportunity to succeed and he did not so I imagine it will be someone who has at some point.

I wonder what he thinks of Mike Mcarthy.

I'll go out on a limb here and say Campbell will be a head coach next year. He'll take over in NO after we trade picks to get Sean Payton.

I don't think he has any ties to Jerry. He only played here in 03, 04 and 05 and he was on IR for most of the season in 04. Campbell's ties are all to Sean Payton and Parcells and I think he would operate that way.

Considering that Jerry/stephen or maybe garrett wouldn't even hire Todd Bowles as DC I imagine campbell has no shot. I don't think Jerry will want anyone around operating on the no nonsense level that Parcells and Payton operate on.
