Bland and Diggs are ball magnets. All the corners Zimm have coached previously were not those type of guys. TNew was a fantastic corner but never a ball magnet.
These guys are also get beat by the ball magnets too, so hopefully they'll give up a few big plays that they give up. Not saying they're terrible or anything, yes it happens to everyone

Even if we flat out stink on defense, Zimmer gets a pass and is the next head coach.

..well, if we can all agree here. Last years playoff debacle was more faulted on the defense.

Sure offense didn't help. But GB was scoring with ease out there.

So Zimmer, is breath of fresh air.

Yep. Totally the defenses fault we scored 0 pts until 1 second was left before HT

What he already brought to Dallas 20 years ago when he was NOT a dinosaur DC that had been out of the league - the STILL STANDING NFL record for most 200 yard rushers allowed in a single season.
So, after that terrible 2000 Season, did this trend of 200 yard rushers continue under Zimmer? From 2001-2006, Zimm’s Run D only gave up 200 yards rushing 2 times (in 96 games) - both to Philly ironically. So, harping on what happened 20 YEARS AGO makes absolutely no sense. His defenses in Cincy and Minnesota were consistently in the top half of the league (even when factoring his last 2 years in Minnesota where there was a LOT of turnover in talent from those units).

Bold> Just realized you are technically correct. What separates Dallas' first-time NFL record for allowing the most 200+ yard rushers in a single season, from Cleveland and Buffalo, are individual rushers. The Cowboys allowed three guys to do it, while the Browns and Bills only allowed to two guys each:

Guess Dallas (and Zimmer) are fortunate the rest of the NFC East did not have a Jamal Lewis type back in 2000--or a healthy Jay Ajayi type back also.
good post, I think it is worse to let the same rb/team do it to you twice.

True but consider this. Duce Staley was on injured reserve when Philadelphia hosted Dallas for the second division game that November. What if he had ended up having another good day toting the rock at home..?

we will never know then, but had that happened, it would be worse, like the other 2 teams. Also it would mean dallas would have the record
with 4 200 yd rushers.

On the 2nd time, your dc and players should know this guy is good and we cant let him run all over us again.
So if he does, that is bad lol.

my take on Zimmer is we wont know about him and the defense till about 10 games in.
When a DC goes to another team, he has all new players, and with Zim none that he chose, except the LB he got jerry to sign.
So the first year will be harder, trying to get all these guys to accept you and run the defense the way you want it.

Plus micah will give him problems, and the other guys like bland and diggs may not like this new defense.

Zimmer is a good coach.

Never understood G.R.O.Z

But he was also the easiest, most comfortable, Jerry pick that Jerry could have made.
