Does Gurode stay or go? He has the physical tools, but apparantly has not been worth the second round pick we used on him. Does he stay? Andif he stays, can he round the corner and become the bruiser we thought he would be when we drafted him?

I agree, due to his being able to backup 2 different positions, that, and not his level of play, is what will keep him, at least for the time being anyway.

If we are smart....he stays in a backup role....we have to much invested in him!

I like Gurode and think he is a solid backup. So what that he has not developed into a solid starter by now; why give up on a solid backup when you need that on your team? Besides, you get nothing if you cut him and close to nothing if you trade him. And if you get rid of him then you have another backup OL spot that you now need to fill. I say keep him - without question!

I'm thinking this is his final contract year. I'm wondering what it will cost us to keep him, is he worth it, and what is our "opportunity cost" to resign him.

stays. no way we can let him go just because he can backup G and C and I think he could be our future RG.

I doubt the asking price will a lot at this point. I think if Dallas wants to keep him they can do so at a fairly low cost.

Gurode isn't going to stay to be a backup. He will go to a team that offers him a chance to start. Bye-bye.

We should resign Gurode and let him compete with Rivera. If he beats out Rivera in camp, we should give him the RG job. I don't care how bad Parcells whiffed on Rivera, just because we can't cut him does not mean he should be handed the starting position again.

Gurode already knows where he stands vs Rivera and Johnson. Odds are very high he leaves to go where he feels he has a much better chance to start. If you were in his shoes wouldn't you leave?

Hell yeah, especially since I think Gurode was a better guard than Rivera last year. People need to realize that the offensive of line of last year was actually better than the Oline this year, even with Adams. It is no coincidence that Juluis could not break 100 yards even before his ankle injury. Gurode may be as dumb as a box of rocks, but he is also as tough as one. BP needs to suck up his pride and realize that Rivera will not be the same. We need to resign Gurode and move him to RG.

I keep thinking Gurode has the skills. If he could get the mental part down he could be a real mauler. I keep thinking he might be like Flozell Adams before Parcells came here. Parcells comes along and Flozell plays like a probowler. The only problem with those "mental gymnastics" is that Gurode has had 3 full seasons under Parcells to start showing what he can do. Maybe the answer is a new offensive line coach.

How do we ruin these guys? This guy was looking great his rookie year, so was AB, remember how happy we all were with that draft after thier rookie years? Downhill since....I really do question the effectiveness of some of our position coaches. Its like players get out of here and end up playing better elsewhere...i.e. Ron Stone.

Actually you see a lot of this with rookies that lack solid technique. they'll do OK for a little while -- then bam, someone starts watching some film on them and they are totally exposed.

Gurode was already falling apart in the 2nd half of his rookie year. With AB, teams learned could be easily frustrated. Much of this is what BP talked about when he got here regarding "street" players -- guys who tried to do it on ability alone. That only gets you so far. Those who can't learn are ruining themselves.

I think you have something there...

Gurode should be kept. Especially after watching JJ torch Carolina with Gurode starting the entire game. I remember several big runs were right over the spot where Gurode had lined up.
If Rivera doesn't come back from this offseason and play much better than he did this year....Gurode should probably start, if Gurode can play smart and have performances like he did vs Carolina.
