Havent heard too much talk about him being a possible pick for us, but really he makes a lot of sense. He doesnt get a lot of praise because hes not a work out warrior but he can flat out play football. He covers sideline to sideline and almost never misses a tackle. He reminds me a lot of Hawk from last year, just without the work out #'s. He could step in and play opposite of Ware while Carp moves inside. This would gives us extremely good depth at LB with Carp/Ayodele/James inside and Ware/Pos/Ellis outside. We would be set at LB for years.

That is because we don't need to draft another OLB early in the draft.:laugh1:

Funny, cause just recently I have been pondering the same thing. It seems we have discussed every possibilty for DE/OLB hybrids but have never talked about a true OLB that very well could shift inside. It's not like he does not have some expierence in the 3-4 considering Penn St plays a variaton of it.

Poz doesnt really fill a need so much as drafting a corner, safety or wide reciever. Even though he is a great player and by no means merely a product of a Penn State hype machine for linebackers. Penn State's linebackers have been among if not the best at transitioning to the pros in that last quarter century. Florida (moss) and Purdue (spencer) combined do not come close to the output of solid pro linebackers Penn State has put out.

Say no to OLBs, at least with our first two picks.

actually many are predicting him as a best fit for an ILB in a 3-4.

The NFL Network on their Path to the Draft yesterday all said they projected him best as an ILB in a 3-4 defense, rather than a MLB in a 4-3......but either case they predict he will play inside, not outside......at least the NFL Network does.

He has a great nose for the ball and plays with probably the best instincts of any of the LB's this year.

Problem is that he is 2 small to play inside in a 3-4 (6'1 238) and isn't strong enough yet to do so. When Brady Quinn out reps the Butkus Award winner , either Quinn is a freak or your best off playing WOLB in a 4-3 until you get stronger in a offseason program.

nonono - we did that last year when we got carp in the 1st.

wait...we *needed* him for the 3-4.

THEN we did that in the 2nd for fasano cause we're running a (2) TE set now.

wait...that didn't quite pan out either.

a lot of people said last years draft was BPA but unless BPA = "Bill Parcells Arrogance" i'm not sure yet. was skyler green a BPA pick or ireland? whichever it was i do commend parcells for not spending too much time on him regardless of him being a pick.

While Penn State is a manufacturer of linebackers, I don't think that position is a need for us this season.

qb/ rb / wr / ot / g/ c/ cb/ s/ dt.

that's our need....not necessarily in that order either.

I have seen some comparisons to Tedy Bruschi. If that is accurate, then he would be a pretty good ILB in the 3-4.

I like Paul Posluzny a lot. If we drafted him I think I would probably be among the happiest on the forum. He plays OLB, but I think he is more suited to ILB in the NFL. He flies to the ball, that's why I think this. I always like guys who have motors and play the game hard. This year Patrick Willis and Posluzny are both LBs who if we landed in round 1 I would be thrilled.
