Well, I could be wrong, but I believe "cut splits" is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.

Supposedly Micah and Osi are both priorities. If we resign Osi I don’t think we need to reach for one in the first but I’d like to see a quality guy
They better be and I'll even throw Gholstons name in there. They only have so many draft picks to fill holes so they can't be creating any more.

Pre-draft the Cowboys really liked him and gave him a 2nd round grade. Getting him with a 4th rounder (and on a rookie contract) as a replacement for Cooks this year made sense to them. Until we get into real football in September, we just have to wait to see how it all works out.
Yeah but two years of that rookie contract are now in the books.

From what I can see, there isn't one valued where we are positioned in the first round. I wouldn't mind a slight trade down to get one, though, because we simply haven't put enough resources into the DT positions. Mazi was our first one in forever and he was a later-round first-round pick that may have been a reach (or at least a bit of a project).

Broaddus and the guys talked about it yesterday, he said with Mike we had wide splitz, with Shotty it's going to be tighter splits and more play action
I really hated how McCarthy played the sideline so much when he wasn't calling horizontal or comeback routes.

I'm sure he did it because statistically they are safer routes, but to me it just makes the completion windows really small while making it easier on the defenders.

If it's true Schottenheimer will focus on more inside routes with in/out options, that may help create some separation.

What I want to see more of next season are slant routes and inside vertical routes.

Run the receivers 45 degrees across the middle of the field and send your slot receivers , tight-ends, etc. vertically down the field inside the numbers.

In other words, do something Garrett and McCarthy rarely did which is to put the defenders on their heels.

I don't mind comeback routes when they follow vertical routes because it adds extra hesitation to the defenders, especially if you run a few stop-and-go routes.

It's not always about beating the defender, but simply making them hestitate.

Hesitation leads to separation and separation leads to completions.

I agree 100% on our 4th was too high given it was apparent it was going to be a top 1/2 of the 4th. A comp pick would’ve made sense, but not our own 4th.
Even if it would have been our 5th it wouldn’t have been so bad since we will have multiple 5ths
