What are Green Bay's weaknesses?

I admittedly am somewhat ignorant of the overall Packers team. I know their running game has struggled until recently and Favre has played out of this world, but other than those things, what can the Cowboys exploit next week? Everyone has dissected the Cowboys's weaknesses ad nauseum, but I know this Packers team is not flawless. After all, they lost to the Bears of all teams.

I am hoping the Boys controll the game clock by power runing as much as possible. TG T-New is back in the nick of time. Now if we can get Henry and Reeves back we might have us an old fashioned football game going.

Reeves made an awesome play in the end zone today. He has been impressive at times.

They can't just line up and pound the ball. Most of their rushing yardage has come off sweeps, delays, misdirections, etc.

Other than that. None. :(

:laugh2: Speaking of cheese, I know the cheeseheads will be in full force next Thursday. I hope the Cowboys keep them quiet. I don't want to sit through a Brett Favre lovefest on NFLN. Let's hear it for another Favre loss at Texas Stadium.

Thanks, theo. That's basically all I've heard - their running game is weak, but now they've improved in that area. Fortunately, our run D is stout. This should be a good one. Another big challenge. Seems we have one every week.

Their safeties. Particularly Atari Bigby.

The Packer safeties play wide most of the time. Look for Witten/Owens/Fasano big underneath.

Avion Cason was killing them in the middle today.

I think we can run straight ahead against them...I think they are outstanding sideline to sideline, much like the colts. Not as fast but very good.

I really do think we can run right at them and use a power game.

they are a solid team though. Its hard to find a flaw in anything they do.

Maybe they will get greedy and try to throw bombs all day and give us sack and turnover opportunities.

Observations about Green Bay:

1. They play alot of man coverage with their corners and really challenge WRs to break the jam at the los. Calvin Johnson looked like he was scared today, I am already thinking bust. However, the down side of man-to-man is the opportunities to get some big plays down the field. If Woodson is hurt and either does not play or plays at less than 100%, THAT IS BIG ADVANTAGE FOR US.

2. Their "Big 5" as they call it is pretty simple play design. The outside guys run the corners off and the inside guys either run slants, hooks, or outs. Farve then picks which guy is the "most open" and fires it to them. They usually like to get a LB matched up on a slot guy and expose him. This could be an advantage for them if they spread us out like the Pats did.

3. Their runs are more by design then power, like with us. They use alot of misdirection, cutbacks, and draws that attach the weak spot of the D. They do not really line up in I-formation or split backs and play power ball with a hat on a hat like we do. I really dont see them getting much against our stout run D.

4. They get alot of calls, even on the road. Maybe the refs just love Farve or something, but they get by with more stuff than anybody. We are talking blatant holds not being called, illegal contact not called, and fumbles being blown dead. Denver got flat-out raped and they were playing in Mile High!!!

If this game was in Lambeau, I would say we lose. However, being at home probably gives us a small advantage and we will probably be favored by 1 or 2 points. Bottom line is this: WINNER GETS HOMEFIELD AND TICKET TO ARIZONA I THINK, NEITHER OF THESE TEAMS WILL LOSE AN NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AT HOME.

Very good observations. I agree with all except number 4. I am always against the ref bias thing, or a team getting or not getting calls. Refs call it how they see it week in and week out.

Another thing I would add is that like Beast added, they play alot of man with safety help. However their safeties are not very good, and Witten will be in position to make plays down the seam.

Also, their defensive line is very good, but is susceptible to over pursuing, so I would like to see us deviate from our "power running game" and run misdirections, draws, and counters this week. Just my .02

This is why im not scared to play in GB in january. We are built better for that game than they are. Watching them today, their offense seemed very timing based(slants)...snow will stop that.

We have a FAR better run game, which should bode well for us if we do play there.
