Agreed. Most likely if the Cowboys do pick up a waiver or FA you're still getting a project player. The thought that their are starting caliber WRs or OTs just sitting in free agency right now waiting on a phone call isnt true for the most part. There are a few guys way past their prime who could probably give you some snaps or at least show flashes, and Beasley who is the one who probably could step right in, but that bring has been burnt it seems. There may be more recognizable names out there it doesnt mean they are any better than the group we have now.
My question especially for the receivers is who do you cut? Lamb, Gallup, Washington, Tolbert, Fehoko, Brown, Vasher, Houston, Vasher. I know Gallup/Washington are out, but both should be back. You would only expect the team to keep 5 maybe 6 from that group. I have no issues with the Cowboys rolling with the young guns a few weeks.
you let it play out with the preseason with the evaluations of young hopefuls ala Fehoko, Houston and Tolbert.
, then determine what the PUP or not for Gallup, they may decide he is closer to sooner than later and not have a PUP list destine for him.
and short term IR for Washington, which you can decide to bring him back or permanent IR him and be a re-do for 2023.
We need a Cedrick Wilson type outta the newer young group. That's why it would help to have adequate QB play in this preseason, to better help evaluate.
i still maintain that we'll keep 6 WRs, never heard of and doubt 7 WRs making a Cowboys squad.
How i look at it now. .
1 Lamb
2 Gallup
3 Brown
4 Tolbert
5 Turpin
6 Fehoko
- This could make it tough for guys like Houston and Vashar. But so much depends upon pending preseason.
Even with Washington is due to return midseason, if guys like Feheko and Turpin show up
big, it'll force some decision making and they could just re-do James Washington for next year's camp.
