First of all, odds are Dan Quinn's era with the team have concluded. He is going to become a HC again in this league. Did a great job turning around this group. Who does the team hire to replace him? Do they go in house with a Edward, Whitt or the DL Coach? Do they hire someone outside the organization like Fangio, Zimmer? Hard to say this early in the process. Whitt doesn't appear to be the guy, Zimmer/Edwards combo would make sense, but let's see.
The goal last offseason was to fix the poor run defense. They performed much better in that area was ultimately was exposed against the 49ers in the playoffs. The loss of Urban hurt, Watkins played better then many thought, but this team truly needs a true NT. One who can have the linebackers plays more clean. Ends struggled at times with containment, but less of a problem on the outside then with the interior.
Defensive End is more about keeping their own. Restructuring/extending DLaw, resigning Gregory, who yes had a bad playoff game, but is still needed. I am expecting Armstrong to leave where Golston replaces his reps along with Basham. What happens if either DLaw or Gregory departs? Becomes the #1 need.
A lot of uncertainty at the linebacker position with both Neal/Lve scheduled to become fa's. Neal is more of a coverage linebacker, where ultimately many feel Cox can assume, but they need run linebacker, especially if they want to flex Parsons as a rusher depending on the matchups. Lve played far better once Gallimore returned, they could try to resign him to a short-term contract or bring in another veteran such as a Hightower. Think this is the area which they look to fill via the draft to go along with a veteran stop gap starter.
Corner looks to be more of a 2023 concern. Brown will be playing on the last yr of his contract, there is an out in Lewis contract after the season. Joseph appears ready to become the starter opposite Diggs, where Wright is still developing.
The team would love to bring back Kearse, but he might become out of their price range. They do have some options if he leaves for the strong safety position in Wilson and Muku. Free Safety is another animal, appears they will move on from a disappointing Kazee, will they look to bring back Hooker? This is another area they need to find a long-term replacement via the draft.
