And you're totally speculating if you think Hooker is a starter in any package. And its fine. Thats what we couch experts do, speculate.

We're still a month away from knowing who is even on the final roster, let alone who starts in what packages come game 1.

All I do know, based on my own personal speculation, is that this will be a top 10 defense. I said it after the draft. Im saying it now.

I don't know if they claimed that they will, only that they are considering the possibility. The two thoughts are not interchangeable. One is an absolute, the other is a chance.

It really depends on how you look at it. For instance, on OurLads, Downs isn't listed as a safety, he's listed as a nickel corner. If the Cowboys view it that way, then that's five corners and five safeties. I think the way Parker views the nickel spot (preferring to use a safety there) changes things up because essentially you have two starting corners and three starting safeties, so going two-deep would dictate two backup corners and three backup safeties. I think a former DB coach carries

10 DBs. To me, using safeties in the slot means we could see that make up be four corners and six safeties (with two of those safety being nickel corner capable).

Downs is the enigma. But he wouldnt have been drafted top 15 if he was a CB.

Durant gives us the position flex where he can play the slot or on the boundry. Thompson can also play in the slot. But I wouldnt want either Downs or Thompson playing outside.

Moore is a lock for CB4. Size and speed. Bridges has size and speed as well. Butler and Carson are kind clones of each other. Speed has size and speed but I think hes got a ways to go, if ever. Need to see more.

So who do you keep? Hooker as the 4th Safety? Or Clark who plays ST?

If you keep 5 Safties and only 4 CBs, you let Carson, Butler and Bridges walk.

If you keep 10 DBs, you let some other player at another position group walk.

You usually need multiple corners because the slot is among your corner positions. In our case, slot is among the safety positions. If we have two starting corners and two players as depth behind them, you have enough. Since we have three safeties starting (in the nickel), then it also makes sense that we would have depth behind each of them. That's four corners and six safeties.

I don't think Carson, Bridges or Butler have proven that they belong on the roster. We normally keep 10 DBs, so we always let some other player at another position group walk.

Not saying Clark or Wood deserve a spot over Carson, Bridges, Butler, etc. That's to be determined.

If you think Hooker's job is in jeopardy though, it is just wishful thinking at this point.

We seemed to want to establish the run in our red zone work and it wasn't working. Then, we started having success in our red-zone passing. I'm sure Steele was part of that, so I don't know what struggles he was having. He's usually a better run blocker than pass blocker.

I'm just gonna go out on a limb here and say Steele is clearly the weak point on the line. Praying someone can take over for him.

Overall when we scrimmaged them last year they stomped a mudhole in us. I want to see us at least be able to look reasonably good against them. There is no win or lose but look like a team that has it together on both sides of the ball.

I got what I wanted to hear about (didn't get to "see" much). Apparently the D performed pretty well and the O did OK. Steele is now my concern more than any other position. I feel LT will be corrected in 2027. Danged shame the most important OL position is where we are the softest. In a real game with Miles Garret playing this could have been a Chaz Green vs Atlanta statistical showing or even worse. Can anyone say Achilles heel?

Eagles kept ten last year so it makes sense that is the starting point for Parker. It will probably be either 6 CBs and 4 SAF or 5 and 5. I think Downs still counts as a SAF despite playing a lot of slot. Eagles kept 6 & 4 last year but that was with Cooper counting as a corner. This year he is a safety that plays slot just like Downs.

Eagles also kept 5 DL, 5 ILB, 5 OLB. 25 for the Defense, 25 for the Offense,
