Besides the obvious "score more points than the opponent".

Running the football and defending the pass?

Great punting game and passing the ball?

Defending the run and time of posession?

This could go a thousand different ways.

For me, it's passing the ball and winning the turnover battle.

I'd imagine you'd be hard pressed to find a game where Team A lost the game, even though they had a better passing game and won the turnover battle vs Team B. Speaking to this, look at our team and you can easily see why we've lost the past 5 games.

What aspects of the game correlate with winning, in your opinion?

Third down conversions (both sides) and turn overs. Followed closely by red zone offense.

Passing the ball and hitting the guy that's passing the ball.

Has to be passing the ball with effectiveness and efficiency and not just throwing for 300 yards, but being able to score in the red zone and come away with touchdowns. As we've seen settling for and kicking field goal after field goal is devastating. Also if you get a lead that increases your chance for sacks as well as turnovers if you force teams to have abandon the run and try to catch up to you.

Stop the run and score TDs in the red zone instead of having to kick FGs.

Control the Line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball

Win the turnover battle

  1. Winning the turnover battle
  2. Winning the QB rating passing differential battle
Do those two things and you will win 95%+ of your games.

Note I am avoiding the obvious direct stats like point differential.

Defensively - Low 3rd down conversion rate...that means you are getting off the field...the more chance you give your offense the more chances you have to score

offensively - Convert third downs, which means you are keeping drives alive.

The points we score and the points they score. End of discussion. I don't care how it gets done. Just win.

1.) Scoring touchdowns instead of field goals.
2.) Converting on third downs.

1.) I think we'll move the ball on the ground. But we need to finish drives with touchdowns. We can settle for field goals.
2.) The key to beating Philly is to keep their defense on the field and keep their offense off the field. Then score touchdowns. When we convert on third downs, we keep the ball in our offense's hands, take time off the clock and wear down the Eagles defense - which is pretty good. This Hardy-led defense hasn't really played with a sizable lead. We need to get them a 10-point lead late in the game so we can release the KRAKEN on them.
