I know I'm probably in the minority, but for 2007, for example, I didn't consider that season a choke job by Dallas. NY just got unbelievably hot. They beat the Bucs, Cowboys, Packers, and then the undefeated Patriots in a row. And their players said after the fact that we were the toughest game they played in that run. That's slim consolation, but the truth is, the hot teams in December are often the ones that make it all the way.
This year, I'm keeping a close eye on Detroit and Tampa. I was eying WAS, too, but their stumble today cools them off considerably in my book. And I'm hoping we come out in NY with our biggest statement win of the season this week. I do think those manning Colts teams that were always 13-3 or 14-2 ended up challenged late in the season to sustain their edge. That's the last thing I want to have happen in Dallas. We need to start seeing our return games step up....areas of the team nobody was necessarily expecting to contribute all that much suddenly playing above their skill level to keep pace with the offense. That's what happens when teams are really ready to make a run. We're seeing a lot of signs of that happening already. That MIN game was a pretty good example where we basically one it on our ST unit (and theirs misfiring). I want to see more of that against the Giants in a real statement win.
Excellent post my friend....................I would love nothing more than to win the East on the Giant's home turf!!!
