i went long term back up but I would add.....a guy that wont kill you if he starts a game or two in a season. I am hoping this staff looks at him kinda like Andy Reid looks at his new players- "how can I tweak our system to best fit this player and get him involved".
Whereas MM was more like..."where can he fit into my system that Im really not willing to change"

He has talent but it’s so hard to develop players with so few pre season games. He needs reps

He needs an elite coach like Reid or McVay to become more than a backup. He wont get that here.

None of the above. Right now, he is what he is. Say, if he goes to camp and stinks it up, he'll be talked about as a 3rd string QB until proven otherwise.

Don't think anything is going to be handed to him. The Cowboys search for QB talent should continue anyway. As in, there's one more roster spot. Continue churning these slots until you've figure out what you have and decided if it's worth developing or not.

Long term backup with some potential. But we need to see more for that potential part to compete for a starting spot.
That will come with a draft pick in a year or two as Dak prepares to be gone.

3rd stringer for now, chance to compete for #2

wonder how many would just say "2nd stringer this year"

Hes the immediate QB2, and if he continues to progress in his development hes going to be the 2027 starter. As long as he does that first part well its well worth a 5th round pick.

Thanks to Dak and his obnoxious contract the best anyone can hope for with Milton is as a backup. Of course, that all changes the moment Dak suffers his next injury. I don't think anyone will be upset if karma kicks in and Dak gets the Romo treatment.
