What can Rob Ryan learn from the way the 49ers mauled Manning today.

I think Ratliff is a "good" to very good player. Not great anymore, imo.

And I think a healthy Jenkins is/can be a "good" player.

But that's about it.

We can hope that B Carter ends up being a quality player as well.

Other than that, we need to add another DL, quality CB at the very least.

We just need a boat load of defensive players.

Ware, Jenkins, Lee, and Ratliff are the only guys that we shouldn't look at upgrading their position.


The quickest fix, imo, is getting more pressure players and not investing a dime in a guy like Anthony Spencer who will not provide that.

I disagree. I think Jenkins is a heck of a player. He just gets hurt to much.

Plus as bad as our passrush is he still manages better than anyone else we have.

He actually has some ball skills.

I thought that Jenkins' attitude improved this past season. He tried to tackle even with his injury. And he played through his injury the end of the season. That was a clear improvement to me, at least.

As for Newman, I don't remember a game (vs the Giants) where a starting CB has been abused so badly in both the run and passing game for some time.

I hope we get Webb from Baltimore. I think he's a player.

Hes way better than we have currently on this roster and he comes from a culture of toughness and winning in the ravens.

Our problem this past year IMO was Rob came here and told the coaches/Jerry that he could turn this puppy around with his scheme.

It was a total snow job. Jerry might be the best Salesman in the world, but he can be sold really easy.

It's not Rob's fault. He needed a job and had only seen these guys on tape. He did a heck of a job early. Remember when we were pretty good on defense early, shutting NE down, etc.?

He know's we need new players and IMO we should go all in. I am tired of hoping....I want results now! Go spend some money Jerry and not on WR's!!!

Three of the four teams playing yesterday were there because of their defense. Especially their D-line. A great four man rush automatically makes the secondary better. I'd try to add one solid guard to the O-line and focus on d-line.
