What can save our run defense?

The Mobile QB's are more so the problems than the actual run defense.
Jalen Hurt is playing like a top 5 QB and they revamped the Bears offense and now he actually looks like the top flight pick he is.

We could also spy out of the gate.

1.) Mobile QB's especially extremely athletic 1's will always stress your run game.

2.) The Bears were down 21 and still committed to the run, killing a lot of the clock. They expected it to be a nip and tuck game and it wasn't.

3.) Bears offense is extremely good at run blocking but not at pass pro.

4.) If we got a healthy Dak against he Eagles we win going away. The Bills just had 180 yards against them on the ground, teams don't really care about you running up and down the field when they have an explosive offense

5. Stop putting Micah on edge at first down, I don't care about him winning DPOY, I want the man healthy for the playoffs.

We’d have 5 more sacks if our run defense was better. Can we fix it with our current roster? I personally think awuzie would help. He made a lot of tackles for us. We need someone to help Lawrence on the strong dude. It’s him or bust.
Score points. Not too many teams are going to stay committed to the run like Chicago did today. They wouldn’t have if they actually had a passer who could pass!

Chicago has no choice. They never score without it.

Containing the QB and keeping them inside would help.

DLaw gave up the edge twice for good Chicago gains
This is why I struggle with Dlaw. He’s been in the league a long time and I think he feels the need to showboat from time to time. Or perhaps he feels he needs to keep up with Parsons. He is a solid player certainly but a veteran like him should have more discipline. Little things like that cost you games when playing better teams. The Bills or Chiefs will kill you. So would the Eagles sadly.

moving Micah back to LB which i know is not going to happen.
Against the mobile quarterbacks Parsons should be in the middle. If he isn’t going to draw a holding penalty rushing you might as well put him where is speed and instincts can be used best. He played LB in the 2nd half agains the eagles and it worked well.

Quinn gotta stop with all these stunts on running downs. Also our lbers suck against the run. I dont like Micah playing end on run downs either where he is susceptible to being run at.

Get LVE out on run downs have micah play off ball and i love how sam williams plays the run so far. These coaches are too dumb to figure it out

i think it's a combo of both player issues and suspect run scheme.

LBs - We have very questionable off the ball LBs
sorry to have to count on a new and green rookie Clarke, but LVE and Barr ain't happenin' Cox is JAG, coaches simply don't believe in him;

DT - Quinn has big boys such as Bohanna, Hankins amd Gallimore and we're still giving too much ground vs run in middle;
Osa comes and goes vs run, if Golston was a rusher at endi'd want him over even Armstrong because he may could provide stronger end play vs run
.. but he's not enuff of a rusher at DE, and hes too light weight inside to be a full timer/
Hill being inactive was a message to me.

Scheme - Gap intergrity - we don't fill and disrupt - and misdirection still seems to kill us - not to mention lack of contain vs running QBs
it's sumthin about Quinn scheme.

No panicamos.

not playing mobile QBs and scoring points like we did today so teams that are more confident in their passing game stop running

Dlaw was saying in his interview.

"We adjusted to the pass, and they ran the ball."

This defense will be fine.

I worry more about our secondary than stopping the run.

Situationally, we can stop the run when we need to. We were just playing the pass today when they were running it..

I think not playing the Bears would be a good start. They seem to have found something play calling wise. They likely will give everyone problems for the rest of the season.

Excellent post.

They found a way to fill up an impressive stat line whilst losing by 20 points, if I'm the DC up by 20 points in the 4th qtr and the other team is running every down, I'm laughing My head off and letting them slowly grind their way to defeat.

In this particular game and a lot of others it’s over pursuit by our edge rushers. They lost containment on Fields and he touched us up for 60 yards at 7.5 ypc but it also happens with the running backs.

No doubt our Linebackers could be a bit more aggressive wading through the trash and our DT’s could do better keeping a clean pocket for them but I wouldn’t want to change the approach of our pass rush one bit and I like how aggressive our safeties fly around the field.

We got what we got! What a stupid comment. If the Rams would have thought that last year, they would have NEVER won the Super Bowl. They picked up a couple players during the season, last year, that helped them win the Super Bowl!
and what makes you believe this front office is going to make multiple trades before the deadline?
stephens track record?
