If Greg Hardy could have just stayed under the radar and kept his mouth closed ...
If Randy Gregory could have just laid off the pot and rode out his four-game suspension ...
If Ro McClain just cared enough to practice ...

This defense would be as "monsterous" as the offense.

Okay, back to reality.

True, I hold out some hope for Gregory since he is trying to do the right thing and get help. Still po'ed because of his action but now he at least is dealing with the problem. The other guys were people who were given a 2nd or 3rd chance and did not care enough to take advantage of those chances to them, to hell with them do not care what they do. I hear many who holler giving players a 2nd chance yet then seem to get upset when the 2nd chance is given and yet spit in the face of the opportunity. Yeah Jerry fault for giving talented players a extra chance.

Well despite what many have said and what many believe, McClain still hasn't been released yet. Maybe there are rules regarding this or legal aspects to trying to get some of the money back after his suspension is over, but the fact is he is still on the team at this point. His suspension ends in 5 more weeks. I know Saban visited him, perhaps that had an impact, perhaps it didn't.

I always envisioned Lee, McClain, and Smith... thought that would be an excellent linebacker corps. I'm willing to wait and see what happens.

Gregory will also potentially return, and he could help our pass rush to a degree.

You keep making whatever additions on defense you can, and Romo and Bryant return and the sky is the limit here.

True, but if they were more disciplined, none of them would have been available lol.

I'm sure RoMc is pushing 275 on the sizzurp

Didn't we have all of them last year?

I should punch myself in the face, but I actually agree with you.

Hardy had a splash early but was less and less effective as time went on. I think McClain is having as much of an impact as Hardy did....hoping he can stay healthy.

If Ro was here, which guy would we get? The one who could barely move side to side for the first 3-4 games or the guy who was a difference maker? Right now, I would take a steady player like Nzeocha over him.

Gregory did almost nothing last year....Ryan Davis is an upgrade over what he provided. So is Irving.

I definitely think there has been some addition by subtraction.

Maybe he is or maybe he is getting back into shape... I don't know. I do know I don't want to assume either way. When he is cut or isn't re-signed, this chapter will close, but until then I think he could still help this team.

Hardy was 2 years removed from that 15 sack season in Carolina when he arrived. With all the legal problems and suspension he was done mentally and wasn't prepared physically. It was never going to work out with him and if you read any of my posts the day we signed him I predicted it wouldn't work out. What could have been might have been a lot better had we not taken the chance on players like Hardy, Gregory and Ro who we knew had issues. Had we drafted a healthy player instead of risking a high #2 on Smith this past April they could be helping us right now. There's many "what could have beens" on defense the past few years had we made smarter decisions.

Waiting until after the suspension to cut him gives the Cowboys salary cap relief. He is done.

I would like to see what Hardy could have did in a season that had meaning. I think as it became apparent this was a lost cause, the wheels came off this entire team. Now obviously that's a huge knock if you only try hard when your team is winning but Hardy could have been had for cheap. But with not one single team picking him up, maybe his locker room issues were true.

I never bought into Gregory at all. He was a long shot and most likely will fizzle out as a bust. When he's on the field I see zero impact.

McClain is useless most the time. He's so up and down. It's almost better that he is not here so we don't have to deal with his crap.

It truly would have been something great. But I prefer to focus on the positives of this current team and their 4-1 record rather than looking back and lamenting over guys who failed to appreciate and make the most of opportunities they were given.

Hardy wasn't quite the player he was in Carolina, but he was still productive. 6 sacks in 12 games.

Hindsight is 20/20. I don't remember many people complaining about us taking a flier on an all-pro DE.

If he wasn't a psychopath, he'd complete this defense.

I think we need to look at the flip side of that. It just makes it soo much more obvious that we dont need head cases on this team in order to win. We are better off without them. Even without the emotionally challenged Dez Bryant this team is getting better and better. We dont need head cases or desperate signings or draft picks to make it work here. RKG's is EXACTLY what we need. We just need to stick to what we say.
