What could make the Jones family sell?

2. Jerry leaves this earth and Stevie is not all in
I’ve said this before when I was mad but to me it makes sense, even if I’m not mad. The best thing that could happen to us fans besides winning a Super Bowl is going 2-15 or 3-14 the next 3 years. The way I see it, the only way Stephen sells the team is if they start losing money. I don’t think the Cowboys will ever be in as bad of shape like they were in the late 80’s. But let’s say we have some serious bad years and the profit starts going down each year. So for instance in 2025 we make 10-15 million less than 2024 and that pattern continues due to fan apathy and poor records. Jerry passes away and the family panics, or more specifically Stephen panics and they sell the team.

I would be more than happy to have 3-4 seasons of 2-4 wins and start losing our nationally televised games and the stadium not selling out. Anything that can get us free of the Jones family. The late 80’s we were a 3 win team and financially trending downwards. It sucked at the time but it had to happen to get that FO out because the game passed them by. I feel the game has passed the Joneses by and 3-14 for 3 or 4 years may break us from the Jones’ curse.

That’s my hope.

Nothing will ever make Jerry sell the team. Whatever happens, Jerry has shown he can weather any storm.
Stephen however, I'm not so sure could.

Some good anti Jerry posts floating around which got me thinking about the scene in Dumb and Dumber when Jim Carrey is getting rejected by Lauren Holly and uttered that often used line “…so your saying there’s a chance….”

Anyhow, it a sad state so might as well dream a bit. What could make the Jones family sell? In my opinion there is a non-zero chance one or more of these things might happen.

1. Scandal they can’t run from
2. Jerry leaves this earth and Stevie is not all in
3. Houston wins a Super Bowl and the league gets annoyed with Jerry and puts a team in San Antonio
4. Private Equity goes “full ******” and pays $15B for the team
5. More circling the drain which forces a major fan and alumni backlash
6. Texas Oil money comes knocking and convinces Jerry to sell
7. Team operating revenue takes a dirt nap and Jerry grabs the remaining value while he can
8. Father and son ego war

Anyhow I think any of these are viable. So what I am saying is there’s always a chance.

Thoughts? Thank you.
Colton Tooley?

Whatever it is, somebody make it happen.........please!

I say everyone on this forum chips in, and we buy the team. We can run it from here, making decisions through thread polls. I bet we'd get better results than Jerry does. :muttley:

Jerry commits murder or they find recorded footage of him on Epstein Island. Almost not a joke.. I just don't see it happening.

Bro...there was photographic evidence of Jerry Jones attending the protest of school integration in Arkansas during the civil rights movement. This photo came out during the height of BLM when social justice was at the pinnacle of its power and influence, and the league couldn't be bothered to even comment on it.

Jerry ain't selling nothing except his yacht when he decides it's time for a bigger one.

That man must have behind the scene Eyes Wide Shut type video of an owners meeting.

None. Jerry is addicted to the lime light which would disappear if he sold the team. He wants to be the face of the franchise, and enjoys the spotlight.

1 (Scandal they can't run from) For some reason I can picture them coming out and confessing that they always didn't try as hard enough as they could to build good teams etc, could see fans getting lawyers and filing lawsuits against them for emotional distress!! The Cowboys have taken multiple years off of people lives, and we should be compensated for it
I like it Coogi, file a lawsuit for 1.2 billion, make it a class action suit, and I will sign on,
and some others here too!

Compromising pictures.
If you had those, and jerry offered you 800 mil for them and to keep quiet, would you
take the money and be ok with cowboys as they are ?
Or would you turn down 800 mil and expose him in hopes they have to sell the team?

LOL I think I would take the $$$ and be happy. This is why pictures and other dirt will never
reach the surface.

Short of this, nothing.

There is zero chance of Cowboys selling until Jethro is dead and gone.

Family footprints are all over this franchise, so sadly selling will never happen unless Titanic 2 hits the Yacht at the next renion

With Jerry's entire family involved in his business, you know there won't be scandalous behavior within the organization, not like in Washington with Snyder.

They are too diversified to be financially vulnerable.

I guess they sell the team when they are tired of running it.

Perhaps there will be control issues among the remaining family members leading to irreparable damage. With no compromise in sight, they decide to sell off and go their separate ways.

That's about less than 1% probability, but it's the best possible scenario I can think of.
