I mean, we know Tyron will break down eventually.
Tyron turned 29 in December of last season. So he's not old on paper. But he was only 20 when we drafted him. He's played 131 games, which is some fair wear and tear.
He's missed 3 starts per year for 4 straight seasons at this point (meaning he misses 21% to 29% of every season now like clockwork), and we all know he's been hobbled or hurting for plenty of the starts where he played less effectively through his injury stuff.
His holding penalties have gone up late in his career. His first 5 seasons, he averaged 2.2 holding penalties per season (and this was back when he was playing 16 games a year). The last 4 years, his holding penalties are up to an average of 5.25 per season even though he missed almost a month of action in each of those 4 seasons. Is his technique getting worse as he ages? Is he less limber and flexible and quick, and he's holding to compensate? I dunno, but it's not a good sign.
When you combine the trend of him missing time (and ask ourselves is that likely to go away or get worse as he ages and accumulates more injuries?) and him resorting to holding more often, it makes me worry.
How long before missing 3 games a year turns into him missing half the season or more, when we're paying him an amount that he really needs to be giving us whole seasons to make it worthwhile.
