IMo, we need a guy like wes welker that opens up the Running game and outside wr's and Te's on the team. a speedy, move the chains kinda guy.. we already have the outside speed in T.O. Having a guy like welker on the team would be awesome, Just don't know if there's any guy out there like welker. I thought Crayton was that guy, till He dropped that sure TD against the Giants, and blew the game for us.

After watching limited combine footage, I think Eddie Royal is the guy...

I completely agree.

Royal looks like a sleeper with some real potential. Very smooth and fluid.

Great! lets just go find another Wes Welker! psh

We dont really need Wes Welker; Brady passed to welker so much because the running game for the patriots became almost nonexistence once Maroney and Sammy Morris went down. Welker became the Santana Moss of the pariots with double and triple WR screens and dump off passes.

We don't really need that; it would be easier to find a shiftier, faster running back in the draft than a reciever of Welkers unique talents.

I think that if Glenn was here from the begining of the season than he would have been our wes welker

The guy that i think the cowboys should draft for replica of wes welker is dexter jackson, he ran a 4.37 in the 40, has reportedly ran a 4.27 in 40, he is the guy that tore up michigan.

here is some info on him;

Dexter JacksonAppalchain State5'9 1/4 185 4.37- 11.226 .81
Appalachian's Jackson moving up draft boards

As the NFL draft (April 26-27) sneaks ever closer, an area player has been shooting up draft boards. That would be Appalachian State wide receiver Dexter Jackson. Don't expect him to wind up a Panther; at
5-foot-9 and 182 pounds, he's not the bigger receiver Carolina is looking for to match with Steve Smith. His ability, though, may eventually be in Smith's neighborhood.

Fresh from three straight national championships in Boone and a senior year that brought 8 TDs and 22.9 yards a catch, Jackson first began to open eyes with a strong performance at the East-West All-Star game.

From there it was on to the NFL Scouting Combine, and with scouts finally paying attention, he continued to impress. While there, he turned in a fast 4.37 time in the 40-yard dash, ran crisp routes and showed good form in catching the ball.

Along the way Jackson, whose Pro Day is scheduled for March 24 at Appalachian, has gone from a projected undrafted free agent to a player who could climb as high as the second round. That would probably be out of the Panthers' range, given their needs at other positions. If he drops though, expect that to change, because talent trumps height at his position. Anyway, expect to see Jackson playing somewhere in the NFL next year.

"Appalachian Jackson"? A sequel to the Carl Weathers action film? Nice!
Anyway, he'll be gone before we'll be in a position to take him. We can't look at him before the third round

Sure....why not draft him and bring Chris Leak in to play QB.

Jackson ran a 4.28 according to ESPN on SportsCenter. It was the fastest time at the combine. Where is 4.37 coming from?

Posted by: Q? | Mar 11, 2008 9:44:54 AM

Jackson's initial 40 time of 4.27 (displayed immediately after his dash) was unofficial, but the combine published an official corrected time of 4.37 secs. Stan's on point here.

Riproar's on it. At the combine they have a bunch of timers, plus an electrical timer. His official combine time was 4.37, although some of the handhelds had him faster...

Still, at 4.37 he's a shade slower than Smitty was coming in (I think?), and 22.9 yards a catch, that's "verrry nice" to quote Borat.

What is the deal with Chris Leak anyway? Does anyone know?

Posted by: EG | Mar 12, 2008 5:23:17 AM

App. State represent! Maybe the Jets will pick him up and he'll be reunited with Murrell.

Posted by: emlit | Mar 12, 2008 9:31:29 AM

Chris Leak will be playing for Team Florida in the AAFL this year.

Posted by: Michael Procton | Mar 12, 2008 10:13:56 AM

Chris Leak maybe listed as playing in the AAFL but at the momment the whole league is imploding cause they don't have enough cash. Neither the AAFL or the otheR League thats trying to start up this year have TV contracts so neither will survive as the ticket sales are not going to hold this league together even with the home town college team feel to it all

Posted by: Bears118 | Mar 12, 2008 10:55:06 AM

Ehh...I think if they get the cash, they can sell tickets to watch ex-college studs play in college stadiums in college hotbeds. There's only one big scrimmage in the spring, and Arena football just doesn't fill the void in Gainesville, Knoxville, or Ann Arbor.

Personally I like Chris Johnson, EC. Maybe it's just me, but he has great speed, can line up at RB, WR , punt and kick returner.
