What did All-Pro line win is before.answer: nothing!

The biggest need was stopping Saquon first.
I do agree in part with you, but the best way to stop him is to keep him off the field. G on it's own won't do that, and this pick will only be good if we get our RB as a start

We had an ALL PRO line before with two future hall of famers and didn’t win squat…

What did it win with Demarco Murray or Ezekiel Elliott what did it do when we had four pretty damn good wide receivers back in 2020 didn't we have Amari Cooper CD Lamb I believe Cedric Wilson wasn't too bad with Michael Gallup hell the 5th receiver I mean we almost had three one thousand yard receivers what did that get you I mean what's your point I get it it isn't a pick that blows your mind but you need it all so let the rest of the draft free agency in the off season work itself out before you like use like a really bad analogy because we've had the running backs we've had the receivers we've had a lot of talent on this team we've had one of the best quarterback rooms do we have one of the best pass rushers in the NFL right now yeah it's not getting us anywhere because it's about the cumulative key put together with the right coaching staff..

So if you want to not like the pic that's fine but don't say what you've already had this and it didn't workout we've had everything else as well don't act like we didn't have a deep wide receiver room and a deep running back room at one time you know they've had Ezekiel Elliott backed up by Tony Pollard and again it didn't get us anywhere I don't see your point it's been all of it some things went wrong along the way in the big games penalties turnovers lack of execution but it's not because we picked offensive lineman over a wide receiver when we have six rounds left you guys are overreacting and again I didn't like the pick either but you guys are not looking at this the way they are and they have a plan I believe they're going to have a full plan by Tuesday we'll see what they're actually planning on doing.

That's why there's rumors about trading for a guy like Breeze Hall it might not be Breeze Hall they also are probably going to bring in Amari Cooper or Keenan Allen but again this dress not over you know how deep of running that class this is it's insanely deep it's the best running back class I've ever seen and they can still get some good wide receivers so I don't know what everyone's so reacting even though you can not like the pick and I'm ok with that I didn't like it either but when you look at this dude's tape and look how good he is you can see why they picked him and they have a bigger plan that you haven't seen yet because you're not giving it a chance...

Won 3 super bowls in the 90's with a ALL PRO line.
Yes this is true that's why I replied the way I did we've had all pros at running back in wide receiver as well we've had deep running back and wide receiver rooms we've had some great tight ends as well we have a Hall of Fame tight end so this guys point is being missed because we've been losing as a team and it isn't because we didn't address 1 position or the other...

But but there is one thing that you're missing though they weren't all 1st round picks I mean I think they've made this fan base fall asleep because the last four picks in the first round have been 3 offensive lineman and one defensive tackle and we're suffering in the skill positions but the draft is far from over free agency is far from over the offseason is far from over when you hear rumors of guys like Breece Hall might be brought over and it might not be him the Cowboys have a plan right now and they're going to execute it and I would like to see it say on Tuesday or Wednesday we'll have a bigger picture of what they were thinking this is just one move in a chess game your 1st move is not going to tell what strategy you're using it's the beginning not the end so yes people are overreacting and I'm not happy with the pick trust me I reacted badly as well but after thinking about it watching film and looking at this dude play this guy's a monster...

Book her head and given up a sack last season only 2 for his colleghe career TOTAL, and he moves people.. Not the fastest footwork but pulls and get to his help spot ok, and I think The bigger backlash for this pic is the fact that we have about 12 guards right now on this team someplace center as well but the interior offensive line in my opinion did not need to be fixed why did you sign Hoffman why do we have bass on this team along with Jones was brought in in free agency the guy that I can't pronounce his name also a guard nate Thomas was drafted he's also a guard I mean Shepley's a guard center I mean I don't get it I was thinking if they were gonna go offensive line it was gonna be a tackle..

But I'm willing to let this play out now that I've slept on it now that I woke up I'm having my coffee i'm looking at videos I understand why they did this and I'm going to give it a shot....

This high priced offensive line is going to be on the bench watching this defense get mauled at the point of attack all season.

It blows my mind how they ignore the defensive line while spending 3 firsts in 4 years on the oline.
Our braintrust said we needed great interior OL play because the DTs in this division are so good.

But we constantly ignore our own DTs.

Logic.

I do realize we've had all pros and other positions that you wanted as well in the draft and it didn't workout so what's your point you do remember in 2016 one of the best run games we had a young team and what happened it was the defense but we had the running back we had the mobile quarterback we had the good offensive line how about 2014 plenty loaded on offensive line demarco Murray led the league in rushing I mean what happened to that game again 0 that's right the defense failed but this stop acting like because of the offensive line being addressed you act like we've never had all pro and anything else we've had some of the best runners the best wide receivers and somehow someway the team blew up and failed in the playoffs it wasn't because they addressed the offensive line too much...

I get the reaction I overreacted at first to but cooler heads prevailed the next day and I'm telling you you're off base with this argument it's a moot point we've had all pros addressed at every position I mean they took Ezekiel Elliott 4th overall and we had Demarco Murray had his best season as a Dallas Cowboy running back has ever had I mean that's saying something and it still didn't get us anywhere I said it in our other post you don't get it we had wide receiver depth here at one time with Ezekiel Elliott I mean we had lamb and Marty Cooper and Michael Gallup and Cedric Wilson and what did it get us?

This team has failed in the biggest moments but it hasn't been one position or 1 player or one coach it's been at least five things that seem to rotate in the Cowboys can't get out of their own way but picking on the offensive lying choices saying we've done this before and it failed what we've done everything else before and it failed as well the one thing we probably haven't done is go all in in free agency or bringing the best coaching staff on the planet because that's what this team used to look like in the 90s and the 70s we had everything..

I think everybody understood you're not going to fix everything in one draft I get what you're saying they thought about Walter Nolan hard I just read a story it was between those two dudes but they're not done they have a plan and I'm sure they're going to execute it we don't know what this big vision looks like this is one and a chess game it's not going to expose your strategy they're going to make trades they're going to draft the next two days they're going to bring in undrafted free agents they're going to bring in more free agents I mean we have not seen the team yet can we not be totally down on the team until we actually see it assembled??

I agree with you it's been a long time since we had a interior defensive lineman that was so nominate like an Aaron Donald type i'm not sure we ever had that but we have had some great assemblies of the interior defensive lineman but I like the new coaching staff especially on the offensive and defensive lines and they have a vision I think Brian Schottenheimer likes the trenches he wants to make this dirty they're going to get it figured out in camp and we'll see it when it comes together..

Don't get me wrong I was just as over reactionary as everyone else when they made the pick, I was pretty angry but now that I've watched the film and the tape and I understand why they picked the guy they must have a bigger plan and we're going to see it and we're going to have no choice but to watch..

The Giants traded draft capital to take a QB many had as either a 2nd to 3rd rounder and an Edge in the top 5 picks with a foot injury . Booker is less of a risk than either of those two

Picking so high Dallas has to come away with a sure starter game one . They got one

By the way

I just did the math for you, I went back to 2010, that's 16 picks, they've only picked 6 offensive linemen since 2010

they picked a lot of running backs, wide receivers, corners, DL etc

I know people have bad memories and I get it I know recently we're trying to rebuild our offensive line so it might seem like it because we picked more recently than we have in a while but this is just a cycle we've had all pros and every position picked or pro bowlers or Hall of Famers in the first round ten of them since 2010 have not been offensive lineman so I just want to make sure your math is correct..

Look it may not move to meet needle for you right now but I did the math they picked only six offensive linemen in the last 16 drafts in the first round Travis Frederick happened to suddenly retires not their fault two others retried as well..

it's not over it's not like they didn't address the interior D line SO FAR(FA and the draft is far from over)

they resigned OSA, brought back Jospeh, Rogers(big dude who knows could be a nice contributor)), signed Thomas, Daxon, Brown etc to go with Mazi, And again they're not done and they did think about Walter Nolan I mean that was their other choice and they leaned this way for whatever reason I can't explain it but we have the rest of the draft and free agency undrafted free agents and any trades they might make before this team's complete so if everyone could just calm down and don't give me that you've been doing this for 30 years nonsense this year is this year this is a new coaching staff with a new vision and they have a list their grocery list is being fulfilled we'll see where it goes...

Now how prospects pan out is to be determined. However, the DT class was pretty strong this year on paper.
Dallas decided to pass on those top guys.

My point of view was let's say we assigned grades to players and their performance, take a "neutral" site such as PFF.

Brock Hoffman was rated as a 66.3 overall, or 44th for guards.
64 starting guards in the NFL.
Not a stud, but still rated fine.

Mazi Smith PFF grade was 38.4, or 207 out of 219 for DTs

Say Booker comes in and he posts a 77(top 10 PFF score from 2024)

10 overall points better. Maybe he's a better mauler, grader etc..
We got improvement, but by 10 points.

Say someone like Nolen or Grant post a 70 overall score. Not as high as Booker and his 77 score, but he would pretty much double the overall output by Mazi.

To me, the DT was a bigger need and there was talent there that would of been fine taking at 12. Wasn't like T Hill was the best D available at #12.

Booker may be an all pro and Nolen a bust. Or vice versa. I'm not claiming a winner or loser on the 25th. However, I just feel like Dallas once again took the "safe" pick with not as much upside to actually improving the team over last year.
While I like the Booker pick, just had to say this is a very good argument for the ones against it. Kudos.

I personally like the fact they have a logical plan behind the OL pick - Dak does poorly with interior pressure and our division has a lot of great DT players so we are countering that if the player proves a good one. Also helps interior rushing game immensely.

I would have been fine with either Offense or Defense as the pick yesterday. I am just glad we made a pick that makes sense

No one continually drafts OG like the Cowboys! You know why? They don’t trust themselves, easiest position in the league to evaluate.
