What did everyone else think about Dak's release time?

Speaking of him I'm hoping Kelly doesn't wise up and start him on Sunday. Could be a long day if so!
I don't think he will but if he does, I think it might help us. Sometimes he airmail his throws.

Winicki, I would like for you to explain how it was that Dak threw a 60-65 yard pass in the air to Butler in the pre-season game and he doesn't have the strongest arm. Which is a clever way of phrasing that.

Or that he threw an out route in a pre-season game and the announcers were ohhhing and ahhhing about his arm strength.

I'll be around.
Yeah, his arm is good enough.
Most consider it even above average.

That bomb did travel 58 yards in the air, but he really had to take steps and give it everything...according to him.

Plenty good

Dak doesnt have a slow release, but even if its not as fast as Marino or Romo probably not a big deal since he is more mobile and can buy a little more. However, Dak doesnt have a cannon for an arm and probably is most comfortable maxing out at 40 to 50 yards. With that said its not like he cant throw a 60+ yard bomb, but it may not be the most accurate throw. That may not be an issue in this offense wanting ball control and keeping the ball away from the other team. He'll just have to hit those long balls occasionally to stretch defenses.

Oh I think his arm is strong enough... It just isn't as strong as some other QB's.

At the combine his fast-ball was about 4 mph slower than Wentz.

It's not only about release time, but also the motion. Romo has a super quick release, but more of a 3/4 motion. Dak's is an overhand motion. So was Marino's which makes his release time so ridiculous. With the overhand motion you can deliver the ball to receivers better on more types of routes. What I saw out of Dak in college was potential, but some issues with his release and more issues with his footwork and that's why he couldn't deliver the ball consistently. But he really has cleared those up in short order, especially for a QB that did not play under center in college.

Whatever it is ... Dak deserves to have the entire season to helm the team.

Romo's was around .26, Marino was .3, while Dak is .37. It doesn't sound like much, but over a tenth of a second is a big deal when you are talking about the ball getting from the QB to the receiver.

Yes, I thought the broadcasters said Sunday night that Prescott's release time is around the norm.

Him going up on his toes to throw has virtually disappeared, so I've got to give him a lot of credit for being able to make corrections to his form this quickly. I think we've seen a few glitches, but it has been rare, which is absolutely fantastic for a rookie.

He didn't throw it 70 yards.

See, problem solved, question answered. ;)

I'm slow. So am I reading this correctly - Dak's release is faster than Marino's?

Nevermind: I read the rest of the thread. :)
