Waletzko came in the 4th quarter and played against 3rd & 4th stringers. He looked ok at times but struggled at other times. His shoulder didn't look assuring. Have a feeling it's going to give him more problems.

We are really thin. Dak has 1 legit WR so far. We will need to dink and dunk.
We’ve got two really good tight ends, Pollard and Turpin. Just have to adjust our scheme We have the weapons. It’s on Moore to utilize properly/ effectively. Mcvay, Shannahan Reid/ Bienemy, McDaniels would have a field day with our talent. Even with the oline. They can scheme , Moore need to prove that, which he has not done as of yet.

He looked decent but again, he was against mostly guys who will be on practice squads or will have jobs in the real world in a couple of weeks.

He's a developmental guy. The fact they are forcing him back to see if he can help at LT (even with a shoulder injury) should tell you all you need to know about how Jerry and Stephen FAILED at fixing one of the bigger OL issues we had this offseason.

That’s what bothers me. He seemed to the first half of last year but when injuries started he tried to use the same scheme and not adjust. Dak ran for his life. If he does the same thing then MM needs to take the playcalling. And he needs to get rid of his buddy philibin. Get a new O-Line coach that will go back to straight up power running and power blocking.

The raw skills , footwork and quickness seems to be at level that can be built on... strength, technique and smarts need time.

More and more solid O line from both schools in N.Dak every year. C.Volson looks to start for Bengsls as a 5th rounder---- took care of the problem child A.Donald swinging a helment nicely.

I think it's unfair to have him go out there as a rookie dealing with the injury. They should get him his surgery ASAP and let him come back at 100%

That probably explains why I never had the condition.
I had it in HS and my trainer (who invented the shoulder harness first used by the Giants and now the entire NFL) said that it mostly stemmed from doing too much bench presses and not enough shoulder stabilizing exercises. The weight pushs and stretches the shoulder socket out the back which opens your should up for the subluxing to occur.

Since i strengthened my shoulders, haven't had an issue.

For his first game action since college I thought he was really good. Did not have any notable losses and looked fluid and strong all night. Granted it was against backups but I think he showed infinitely more than Ball.

Don’t think he’s quite ready to start but we may have a future starter there. If not, at least a viable swing T. Let’s hope he can do that sooner rather than later!

What did y’all think?
Needs an offseason of weight room work.
I was hoping he would get an IR red shirt season this year.

We have to assume/ hope our training staff is handling that.

IF all you needed was physical ability and experience then why are virtually all the starting L's in the NFL high draft choices?

True but it is mainly bc it is a premium position that you have to have.

There is a better chance to get one drafting higher, no doubt. Same with Edge rusher, CB, and Qb...the other premium positions.

However, it isn't impossible.

Eagles Jordan Mailiata was a 5th rounder. Future HOFer Jason Peters was undrafted.

Villenueva from Pittsburgh was undrafted. Bakhtiari was a 4th rounder.
Terron Armstead was a 3rd rounder.

I could go on but it isn't a prerequisite to be a high pick.

Haha, Alarcon was a train wreck…. Just a brutal game for him.

No doubt. He got rocked.

I'm just throwing this out there. Dare Rosenthal, who isn't a bad draft prospect, went UDFA, and is expected to be practice-squaded in Atlanta.

Waletzko also playing with a bum shoulder.

I disagree. Josh Ball played pretty good last night. Best performance by far all preseason.

If it was up to me, Ball starts at Left Tackle. Tyron Smith starts at Left Guard. Matt Farniok starts at Center. Zack Martin at Right Guard and Terence Steele at Right Tackle. Leave Waletzko as swing Tackle but go get another veteran Tackle just in case. Leave McGovern as swing Guard. Biadasz as backup Center.

These two factoids don't belong in the same sentence.

Even if we grant the first is accurate. (It's not.)

What did y’all think?

I think he played against the scraps of the SEA roster. I don't think there's a whole lot that a person can take from it... but glass half-full, he at least showed he could perform okay against that group. I do like what I saw.

Don't know what Sturm is talking about. Really don't. It's cringeworthy the way some of the DC media have been pushing an anti-Ball take... and it's gotten to the point that I'm becoming suspicious that there's something more to that than his on the field performance.

Ball was atrocious on the first drive of the game. He did improve throughout the night and won some battles.
To Ball's credit, he gets downfield on run plays and delivers second-level blcoks.
Why Lets Go appeared strong on the edge but was the last man to reach the pile downfield.
