What did you get on black Friday?

I am not touchy. You are being unfair that's all. Yes I understand what you mean. But nobody is forcing those folks to work overtime during holidays. It is against the law. They work by choice just like I did work 66 hours a week by choice. And that way, I was able to bring home more money. I see this as an opportunity for folks who can't make ends meet make a few extra bucks. Would I preferred if I didn't have to work overtime? Of course but in the end, I made a choice and worked 66 hours a week.

Now I agree with you that the doorbusters are crazy. Not for me. I haven't done even one in my life and I am about to be 36. But leave that decision to people. Everybody can make their own choice. Don't judge people and label them nuts. Nobody deserves that.

Nobody gets OT at Walmart and they ARE forced to work black friday. In fact Walmart has a vacation blackout from late October through January.

I am sorry but anyone that exposes themselves to borderline riots to save 50 bucks on a last year's model TV is crazy.

Yes but Friday is not a national holiday. I also worked Friday's in some of my jobs. Forcing people to work on Thanksgiving is against the law. I am pretty sure Walmart would be sued like crazy if Thanksgiving work was mandatory.

Okay I get your point and I am pretty sure you get my point too. So let's leave it at that. Have a good weekend.

My friend was told he'd be let go if he didn't work on Thanksgiving.

Nowadays the employers will do everything to screw their employees. Don't want to hijack the thread. As far as I know you are still in college so you might not know. When you are hired by a company, you sign a contract. If your contract says you are supposed to work on national holidays, you have to work or else you are in breach. But if you don't have that clause and if still your employer forces you to work on thanksgiving, you are allowed to take your employer to court.

Don't let 'em diss you, Shunpike. I respect you're willingness to work, in this time and age where so many are comfortable not doing a damn thing. Hang in there.
BTW, hope the weather is good in NYC mid next week thru the weekend, so we can enjoy your city.

Back on topic...

I ordered a Nintendo 3DS online...

Don't really go to stores on BF anymore. In the past, I used to go to Best Buy for CDs, but stopped that awhile ago. I'm now a Cyber Monday fiend.

You obviously never worked retail. The people going to a black friday sale are nuts and that is being respectful because I can say a lot worse.

Whether you worked in retail or not, the majority of people who go out on black friday are not nuts or crazy.

What goes on on black friday is a true microcosm of what this country has more or less evolved into. Sad to see, Blind Zebra.

First hand experience says otherwise.

Most of the day black Friday is just a little busier than any other day. It's only when the doors open that people are really crazy, but even then most of them are not nuts, they are just willing to wait in line and go about their business.

I got red snapper, hong shao ro (pig belly), tiger shrimp, and qin cai gi dan (celery and egg), rice, and bamboo shoots (soak for a day then boil for a day) all cooked by my son and father in law. I'm going to build a Hackintosh by ordering tomorrow. That I have to do myself. The Admiral got a 24 hour Oris with a nice alligator band and I got a new beater antique Bulova Super Seville. I bought myself a 3 date Omega Speedmaster for my birthday but I'm waiting on links for it. I actually got the Oris for myself and her the Bulova but she stole my damn watch. But I pretended it was for her so she's happy. She doesn't even know how much the Oris is worth. But she does like it so she does have good taste.

I see now that grandsons' future cadillac has shrunk to a Ford Focus. How long will it be before it's a skateboard??? Another birthday??? Another Christmas???:D

I got a ladder. Sad, I know, but its really all I needed. Currently building my store and cannot reach the highest points to put the roof purlins on. Not a big Black Friday guy, unless I can buy it online I pretty much avoid it altogether.

I sell guns when I am not offshore. We had some this year, sold a lot of ammunition. Not much in the way of guns though. Its a smallish town, so pretty much what I expected.
