Why Keith Rivers? Why not just say a top 10 player? Is there some significance to Rivers?

Because Linebacker isn't a real obvious need, so I figure if a linebacker of his caliber slip, what would the Cowboys do? Take BPA at the time which might be Keith Rivers or just pass up this opportunity?

IMHO Jerod Mayo slipping and the Cowboys taking him to replace Zach/Akin would make more sense and certainly be more probable.

Keith Rivers is actually the best linebacker in the draft.... PERIOD!

Better than Mayo or who ever you think that would be better than him.

Trade Down to a team that desperately needs him?
Draft Him?
Get Another Player?
Other?

If he fell to #22 I'd take Rivers in a heartbeat! Put him in next to Bradie James (or in place of James if Zach Thomas is still at a high level) and we would have the best starting 4 LBs in the league IMO.

The guy has a very high motor and is an excellent tackler with very good instincts. He reminds me of a bigger Dat Nguyen.

I agree, you take him and laugh at the teams that passed on him. He reminds me of Patrick Willis.

Many don't believe this to be true. Many teams value Mayo over Rivers.

The problem is that Rivers can only play OLB in a 43 IMO. He could probably fit a Tampa2 MLB role well or if he's cover up as a MLB but he can't play in a 34 or a traditional MLB position. He's got the same issues that Carpenter does. He can not scrape well and he does not shed blocks well. If he is allowed to run free, then he's an extremely good player. However, if he is forced to deal with OLs, he is not very effective.

A very good player in the right scheme but I would not take him. He doesn't fit our scheme very well IMO.

We're in a position to take the best player on the board.

I would not be shocked if Dallas selects Kenny Phillips if he slides to 22.
