What do the cowboys need to do to beat the eagles?

Matchups to watch:

Smith vs Babin

Vick vs Lee

Witten vs Weak LBs

Their DL vs our OL

Containing Mccoy

If we win the toss, we need to choose to get the ball first and score on our first drive.

We have to be able to run the ball.

With Ware banged up we need to find someone who can bring some pressure.

It's going to come down to the defense and the oline. Same as every week.

I like the comments made about Smith being asked what hes learned so far and he pointed out how he was getting beat by Babin's spin move coming out of the wide 9. I hope he sees his mistakes and completely shuts Babin next week.

Eight teams have beaten them.

They are not all that. I think we have more talent overall than they do.

We need to stay away from turnovers.

I agree with you but the last thing I remember is the eagles man handling us and it makes me nervous. We need Romo to work his magic and the D to force some turnovers.

Eagles have been playing very well the last two weeks. We will have to play very good and limit offensive mistakes.

Well according to CZ they're the best 6-8 team ever. :laugh2:

We need to pound them with Felix and Sammie Morris on the ground.

Romo needs to be on top of his game to beat them for big plays when the safeties start to inch up.

We really need to go hard after NA and Samuel.

I also think we need to be much more aggressive in our coverage schemes. We were way too passive last time and left the middle of the field open all game long.

Our offense has played tramwndously over the last 2 weeks. The matchup between our O vs. their D > the matchup of their O vs. our D. Last time they won it ecause of a coaching design flaw. I fully expect Coach Ryan to fix that and shut them down this time.

Stay disciplined on defense, they killed us with misdirections and delays.

Block Cole and Babin, they wreaked havoc on our offense last game.

Cover some one, they had guys running wide open the entire game.

I think they are going to have to take a few chances with their safeties. No way can they leave them 30 yards down the field all game, that really hurt them last game.

Babin is playing out of his mind right now as far as getting to the QB, He has 18 sacks.

One thing that is crucial is that we don't come out flat. Ideally I would like to see us open on defense and get a four and out and go from there just to set the tone.

d-line discipline v vick-stay in gaps and don't overpursue, do not lose edges

rob ryan discipline overall- resist getting over aggressive with blitzes

good zone safety play to eliminate big pass plays/long vick rambles

oline-let them run block and win that battle first.

keep third downs manageable and don't depend on Romiracles

increase red zone td percentage. maybe some new plays

if things are haywire and we are way behind, we need the halfback pass play.

There is something very wrong with this guy.

What pass rusher in league history suddenly has the lights come on at age 30. A guy who never had more than 5 sacks in a season suddenly has 12.5 age age 30 and then 18 at age 31.

I suspect steroids and/or HGH.

Regardless, the Eagles got a bargain signing this guy 5 years at $28M. Jerry was asleep at the wheel to let a Pro Bowl pass rusher coming off a double digit sack year to get by us when we desperately need help, too.

$6M/yr is a bargain for a guy who can get double digits in sacks. The Eagles got this guy, the Phins got Jason Taylor and the Pats got Andre Carter. All while Jerry did nothing to fortify our pass rush.

We need to do something next offseason. A first rounder at OLB makes sense to me if the value board aligns itself. We are far too weak in the nickel and can't get after the QB at the end of the game because everyone knows if Ware is doubled no one else can defeat his blocker.

Play with the same intensity Philadelphia will bring. Everybody comes to a Cowboys game with their heads on fire and Dallas better be prepared to dot every i and cross every t and play as perfect a game as they can. Try to jump ahead and don't be satisfied with a lead until 60 minutes are up. That means don't go conservative with a lead, light it up as though you're playing from behind.
