I hope we see alot more of the same, TBH. I mean what more can you ask for? A dominating running game, a dominating passing game, a dominating defense...

Maybe we can leave out the Anthony Henry corner blitzes. Maybe stop having him cover TEs, too? Cleveland's offensive line is better than Philly's, so even if we play it the same we should get more pressure.

In my mind, we've used more stunting against Philly than any other team. Didn't guys like James and Ware get "gimme" sacks last season against the Eagles because of play design that led to them rushing up the middle untouched? I expect to see more of that. Maybe the coaches can start to live up to their man coverage/press coverage promises.

I'm hoping for a solid shot on McNabb early. Nothing dirty mind you. Just a good hit to let him know that we'll be coming all day - he doesn't respond well to that.

If we get to him early, I think he'll pull his usual disappearing act and go from 'Michael Jackson' to 'suddenly hurt'.

I want us to be able to mix things up more than we did last year, because that can create confusion and thus mistakes from QBs. But I don't get why everyone acts like playing man to man is some panacea. You could argue that it's better to zone McFlabb and try to get INTs off him because he's so inaccurate sometimes. And if he avoids a big blitz and you're in man, it can be a quick touchdown.

Defense hasn't been the problem against the Eagles anyway. Last year we gave up 27 points all year against them, and seven of that was against a soft defense in garbage time when we had a 28-point lead.

What's the deal here? I haven't re-watched the game that closely.

tbh, I hope we bang him up Willie McGinest style. Drop the boom. Bust his chin. Frustrate him early and like you said, McNabb will disappear and start blaming the KKK. Knock him out of the game, what do I care? I hate the Eagles, and I hate McNabb. I want destruction of epic proportions, and I really don't get what the theorized original state of the continents before shifting has to do with anything, Chocolate Lab.

jk...they promised a little press coverage. Seems to be what the players want. Why not give them a shot?

I didn't rewatch it closely either. IIRC, his blitz was a complete failure (he doesn't have the speed or the power to make it work, and it you could see it coming a mile away) and when he was dropping inside on TEs and slot receivers, it looked like he was lost.

IMO, Anthony is a corner that needs the sideline. If we try to keep this up I think they'll keep going after him. Once we went back to covering Winslow with a safety, or more accurately after Williams took his legs out, Winslow was a non-factor. I don't know. Maybe just first game bugs.

That's exactly what I'm talking about.

And something I'll never forget.

McNabb went from a 'hero' doing Michael Jackson moonwalks to a 'zero' who was 'hurt' and out for the season.

And all it took was one Roy Williams interception returned for a touchdown to make that happen.

"When the goin' gets tough..."

Yeah I expect alot of movement in the front 7, but I do expect zone in the secondary. I really think mcnabb looks deep first and stays there too long sometimes. Its almost like he reluctantly throws short. So if you take away his deep balls and come after him in the front 7 he may get frustrated and either throw a number of his patented ground balls or make mistakes.

The only downside to that I see is westbrook, booker, smith catching quick stuff over the middle and gaining huge yardage. They have had a ton of opportunities against us in that area.

THe addition of zach thomas I think should shine this game. I think he can get to the spots smith and westbrook want to be in and force mcnabb to go somewhere else.

I really expect a ton of pressure. I think ware will be all over like he was in both games last year and I expect ellis to continue his success against runyan.

Last week was 4 or 5 rushing against 6 man protection, I am curious to what the eagles do. IF they spread us out I actually think it is to our advantage.....I think it is all about keeping mcnabb from throwing deep where he excels..

and for what its worth if mosley is right and newman is out again, I am scared to death of man coverage. IF mcnabb gets man from jones and henry I think he will throw it immediately and since I think pacman is a flag waiting to happen I think that could spell big trouble.

I'm not that scared.

While I'll acknowledge Pacman still looks a bit 'rusty', I don't recall him getting picked on or screwing up other than that pass interference in the end zone. And while that was a big misstake, I liked the fact that he stopped Edwards from catching the easy TD anyway and made Cleveland earn it.

He also was a step short of taking one to the house in that game.

I think that's the 'feast or famine' type of play that he brings to the table. And as he gets more comfortable, I think we'll be 'feasting' more.

yeah. Rust could be it. Either way, you cant protect two corners. I think if henry and jones are the corners and you play man, I think you might be making it too easy for mcnabb.

If mcnabb sees man coverage from pacman before the snap and he has time he is going to throw deep everytime. Just my opinion, but Pacman has not been tested yet. If the eagles go deep on their opening drive and get a flag or a big play on pacman I think they will get in his head and it could lead to a long night.

at least if I am reid and company that is what I do. They have always tried deep balls on henry. I think he is smart enough to handle himself. You can run right past him but I think he will be backed up off the line. but if I am the eagles I am going to go after pacman, the cowboys must know that and it has to be the reason behind the uncertainty of newmans status this week.

I know if the first time the eagles get the ball they attack pacman it could be the biggest factor in the game. If he lives up to the challenge they will have to adjust, if he doesnt we will. And again I dont think you can help both corners.

I hope we pound the hell out of them up front.

Philly is going to try and spread us out and run short routes and have their receivers try and sit in the soft spots of the field.

I expect dall to try and press them and take away those short routes.

If Philly is on their offense can become a headache but if they get behind and McNabb has to consistenly throw down field they are going to be in trouble.

How many others agree with this? Not trying to be confrontational; maybe Cleveland's line is younger but I would not say they are better. I think 'boys and Eagles O-lines are two of best in the NFL.
