I hope we pound the hell out of them up front.

Agreed. Deep passes are fun to watch and all, but nothing can break a team's will like running it straight down their throats for four quarters.

I want to see one dead-tired Eagles defensive line giving up huge holes by the fourth quarter. I want to see grown men cry for their mommies.

How many others agree with this? Not trying to be confrontational; maybe Cleveland's line is younger but I would not say they are better. I think 'boys and Eagles O-lines are two of best in the NFL.
Just look at what Cleveland's line did in pass protection and to revive Jamal lewis' career last season. The biggest reason for their success was probably that offensive line, and the best young LT in the game. The Eagles are a good offensive line, but they're not on the Browns level, at least looking at last season's performance.

Philly is going to try and spread us out and run short routes and have their receivers try and sit in the soft spots of the field.

I disagree. If they play the short passing game, it works in our favor because it will be easier for our guys to "spy" on Westbrook out of the backfield and a scrambling McNabb.

I expect them to try to hit us deep early and often, work delay handoffs and screens to Westbrook and give McNabb a lot of opportuties to scramble.

There is a funnier line around that section of the movie...but not exactly suitable for the board.

Just think of the line where the mayor asks...Is this true...and you know what one I am talking about.

You are probably referring to the Giants game when McNabb was sacked 6 times by Osi. That was against a backup rookie? tackle. Otherwise, they have Tra Thomas (old but still good), Runyan (same as before) and Shawn Andrews (young and good). All three of those guys have been to at least one the pro-bowl (Andrews was hurt his rookie season and is only a couple of seasons into his career and therefore hasn't had as many opportunities). A lot of people would say Andrews is one of the best young guards in the game. Not to mention, it's not like Westbrook hasn't been every bit as productive the way Lewis has been for the Browns (I do understand that you are saying the line revived Lewis's career).

I am curious what others think just to see if I am crazy (probably am).

Yeah I expect alot of movement in the front 7, but I do expect zone in the secondary. I really think mcnabb looks deep first and stays there too long sometimes. Its almost like he reluctantly throws short. So if you take away his deep balls and come after him in the front 7 he may get frustrated and either throw a number of his patented ground balls or make mistakes.

The only downside to that I see is westbrook, booker, smith catching quick stuff over the middle and gaining huge yardage. They have had a ton of opportunities against us in that area.

THe addition of zach thomas I think should shine this game. I think he can get to the spots smith and westbrook want to be in and force mcnabb to go somewhere else.

I really expect a ton of pressure. I think ware will be all over like he was in both games last year and I expect ellis to continue his success against runyan.

Last week was 4 or 5 rushing against 6 man protection, I am curious to what the eagles do. IF they spread us out I actually think it is to our advantage.....I think it is all about keeping mcnabb from throwing deep where he excels..

and for what its worth if mosley is right and newman is out again, I am scared to death of man coverage. IF mcnabb gets man from jones and henry I think he will throw it immediately and since I think pacman is a flag waiting to happen I think that could spell big trouble.
he said he's gonna be out again this week?

I would never let my view be skewed by a single game. The Eagles are certainly in the conversation for one of the league's top lines. I just think Cleveland's is a cut above.

Newman is crucial to this game, especially with McNabb and company. According to Terence, he is ready to play. (Although Wade Phillips hasn't confirmed it yet)

Article from yesterday.

Newman's status seems to change by the hour.

But my gut tells me that given that this is an important divisional game that he's going to play.

Based on that article he practiced yesterday and even had an interception. I think he will play too. (Although he might not be 100%)

what do most of you think we will see this game from our D?? More Blitz's? i hope so....i wont be able to watch a 4 man rush with Zone backing it up...we will get lit up......

I'm Hoping we play tons of Man....with a heavy rush..especially if Newman gets back
I don't think we play this game any different on the D side. We will stick to our zone and bring five guys most of the game. Maybe see Zach shadow Westbrook because Brady will get eatin up by him.

Its what they've been doing for years. If they change it up i'll be shocked.

They pass to set up the run and throw short passes constantly.

I think they should play more blitzing and man coverage. Blitzing would cut down on the run game, which is really their only threat, because even if newman doesn't play, we have the upper-hand on the aerial attack simply because of our dbs compared to their wrs.

We blitzed on 60% of passes in Week 1. You want more than that? At some point it becomes excessive.

Excessive works. Ask Indy................

There's no such thing as "excessive" if it works. It's then called "effective".

Our guys up front push their DL around. We'll control the clock, and our running game will set up play action. We take an early lead, and never let up.
