What Do You Do If We Sign A Starting Caliber LT?

Start Peters at LT and Smith at LG.

Smith has been practicing at LG all summer. Peters has played LT most his career. Tyron Smith is supposedly coming back this season so no need to flip flop Tyler back and forth.

When Tyron comes back, then either Peters is the swing tackle or if Steele has been disappointing, flip him to RT.
That’s just the only logical move though I don’t expect peters to sign before the first game. So we are probably talking game 2

While I agree that 6 sacks and 28 pressures is not below mediocre. A 77.5 grad puts him just about Connor Williams level, which this board has no use for.
Connor was always graded well because he did more good than bad. It’s just that his bad was so glaringly obvious (penalties and lack of anchor strength), that it seemed a lot worse than it was.

A 77.5 grade is one given to productive starters which is what Peters was last year. Best thing about him? Only 3 penalties all season.

Not so fast. He doesn’t know our system and who knows what shape is in right off the bat. It’s a wait and see circumstance. I just don’t see bringing a 40 year old off the street and having him start a week or so after he gets here regardless how good he has been in the past.
I know it a bit of a stretch.
I just don't have any confidence in our other options.
We should never have been put in this predicament.
With proper roster construction, we would not have been.

Not sure where you’re getting your below mediocre thing from. He was a good starter last year and the best Chicago has had since 2017. He played 15 games. On ability, he’s definitely a starter. But yes there is a chance he gets hurt, no questions about his ability though.

6 sacks and 28 pressures isn’t good! For reference Tyron gave up 1 sack last season and many here proclaimed he had an off year and was washed up. Miraculously Peters made it through last season without missing much time. His chances of doing so 2 seasons in a row are practically nonexistent. At this point it will take until week 4 to get in shape and he’ll be on IR by week 8!
