It's funny looking back at it...but do you recall when people were outraged when we cut Ellis, Henry, and T.O.? Did this team even miss those guys this year? HELL NO. This team exceeded expectations of many people outside of this organization and maybe some within. The staff has proved that they earned another year.

I'll tell you something even funnier. We had ZERO personel mistakes and a ton of 1st and 2nd year players step big time.

So many of our personel wishes came true.

Jenkins, Scandrick, Sensabaugh, Spencer, Brookings and Free.


Yet we still have a-holes calling for Jerry's head.

It's really funny that you mention the Superbowl in this thread. Before the season started, with the way many of the predictions were, if you'd told them that the team would be 11-5 and win a playoff game, and not told them anything else, many of these folks would have taken that and ran with it cause they were prediction anything from 5-11 to 9-7 without a single December win or playoff win.

Now that they've done a couple of those things, winning in December and getting the first playoff win in forever, the greedy fan inside of us all seems to want to go back to "We suck. Fire the coach. Get rid of Barber. Fire this player, fire that player."

There isn't a single person, no matter how high they were on the season, who wouldn't have taken 11-5 and a playoff win before the season started if that was offered to them.

It's funny how views on a season change so drastically from week to week.

Don't forget Carpernter...I think he played his role well and got great game experience this year. Maybe he elevates his game next year but he did his job this year.

Roy Williams...God Bless the kid, needs to work his butt off every day this offseason.

And spend time with a sport psychologist.

I'm not joking. He needs help.

He still brings too much to the table to just release him outright. But he shouldn't and almost certainly wont start anymore.

He still has a valuable skill set and can be so useful in the redzone for us. Just needs to get his head screwd on right.

Sensabaugh has been serviceable and let's not foget that this was his first year as a starter. In JAX he was a backup that only started 4 games because of an injury. Also he had a thumb injury to deal with all year that limited his ability to catch the ball.

We need a ball hawking safety. Somebody with ball skills. It was never more obvious than Rice's first TD yesterday. That ball should have been intercepted, but Sensabaugh didn't even turn to look for the ball. He had Rice covered but he had to turn for the ball. We need a Kenny Phillips type who will turn plays like that into interceptions.

You can see the difference at CB. You have Newman who has terrible ball skills and Jenkins who has excellent ball skills (granted Jenkins struggled yesterday). Sensabaugh is the Newman equivalent of safeties. We need the Jenkins equivalent.

And I agree with everybody else that OL needs upgrading.

In Order of Importance:

Offensive Coordiantor...either garret's light bulb goes on, or we upgrade the light fixture. Enough said here. If you disagree, then put down the coolaid, walk away slowly from your PC, and call Dr. Drew for help with your Garrett addiction..

OL depth, upgraded via a solid mix of draft choices and free agent pickups. The #1 draft pick sould be a LT to push Flozell Adams.

WR upgrades and depth. The goal is for Ogletree to be the #5 WR, meaning the 4 WRs above him should be better. Right now, only Austin and Crayton are better, so Dallas needs 2 WR slots to upgrade. Roy Williams and Sam Hurd have overstayed their welcome. This does not count Witten and Bennett; they're TEs, not WRs.

LB depth. Immagine if Brooking or James go down. Carpenter is a nickel-back, no more. We don't know about jason Williams so we need insurance through the draft in case he does not pan out. Enough said.

CB depth. Immagine if Newman or Jenkins go down. Skandrick may (no defenites here) fill in, but who plays nickel? It can't be Ball, he's already the depth at S.

OL!!!

It's been repeated here for a few years how much better this line looks when Tony is in the game vs any other QB. That obviously means, this line needs a mobile QB because they aren't good enough.

Yesterday, nobody would have looked good!

IMO the season was a success. Did anyone think we were going to the Super Bowl after all the changes we made in the offseason and draft? We had ALOT of question marks going into the season on both sides of the ball and to me this season has answered most of them. There are still some unanswered questions but for the most part we can conclude that this team was pretty darn good.


Now having said that I want you zoners to list what you want this team to improve on next season.

For me it's Tony Romo, on a blitz with man coverage all around, throwing the ball to the sidelines and allowing the WR beat the DB for the ball. Now I know this year Romo was about protecting the ball but in this particular situation you take those chances. If Austin and Romo work on this and become successful at it then it will definitely add a new wrinkle in our Offense.

Kicker-we need to find a consistant kicker that can make FG's from 35-44 yards. There has to be another Nick Folk out there that we can rely on.

Draft some OL, we can never have enough lineman, lets try and get one higher in the draft for the future. We cannot keep spending big free agent dollars on O lineman. Find some more athletic safeties, Hamlin is ok for now, but the league is all about passing and I would like to see more range from our safeties-someone in the mold of Troy or Ed Reed.

There is free agent out there by the name of Richard Seymour that we could take a look at, he is still fairly young (30) and is a good fit for the 3-4 defensive end. With Spears contract up this year, do we look to sign him long term or look somewhere else. I know we have Hatcher and Bowen, but other than that there is no one else on the roster. Seymour can generate a pass rush (something Spears could not really do) that would make Ware or Spencer that more dangerous. But he could be too expensive, but I think we need some more dynamic players like him on the dline. Look at the secondary, they were never really challenged by our wideouts-why, cause our QB was running for his life! But many thought they were the weak point in that defense.

WR-I think we are good at for now, we have Ogletree who could see more playing time next year and hopefully Austin continues to get better, I know everyone bashes RW11 but I think he can make a great possession receiver if he can regain his hands. Crayton, Hurd could serviceable as back ups.
