A 6th year veteran QB?

Or a QB that has only been starting for 2 1/2 years?

I think there is a huge difference between watching and studying the game than actually playing in a live NFL game. I'm not giving him any excuses, I'm just simply saying he's still relativly young considering his actual NFL game experience. He played at a mid-major school against mid-major competition. It's a huge step from that into the Pro's. Flacco played at a Div 2 school and struggled his entire first year. We'll see where Flacco is in 3 years.

I'm giving Romo one more year to do his thing. I'm a firm believer that you know who a QB is after his 2nd full year of starting. I'm Romo's biggest fan, and there's nothing I want to see more than him succeed and get that monkey off his back.

Tony Romo NFL and Superbowl MVP in 09!!

A $60 mil QB who has all the pressure in the world on him to get the Dallas Cowboys back to the Super Bowl.

I see Romo as a young QB, with 2 1/2 years of starts under his belt. But this is the year he needs to bring it. He had a pretty good year when he took over for Bledsoe with some inevitable bumps in the road. Then he had a nice second year that eventually tapered off as the rest of the team folded yet again in December.

Last season Romo had a tough year. Owens. The injury. And the collassel collapse at the end of the season. So Romo has been through it all, and has seen it all. Time to end it all on a championship note in 2009.

A happy go lucky guy who gets the blame for WR's dropping balls, quitting on routes, and poor O-line performance. Granted he also makes boneheaded plays but so does everyone else that gets pounded consistently. If we lean on the run to take some of the pressure off him, he will take us to the promise land...:starspin

i dont think this was an open question

i think you wanted to know whether we saw him as a 6th yr vet

or 2.5 yr starter right? not all the other responses

if so i would say a 2.5 yr starter. you cant truly develope or improve as a player from just sitting on the sidelines. i feel you have to be in actual game situations and playing in order to grow. though one could argue that him being in the league 6 yrs does him a far greater advantage then someone else whos only been around and started for 3 yrs. which is somewhat true but i still think you have see if what you learn translates on the field

How about an arrogant, narcisistic hack who gets the credit for having an All Pro team built that he just stepped into after years on the bench, with a Hall of Fame receiver, a pro bowl tight end and another pro bowl receiver who would get WIDE open since his offensive line would give him al the time in the world to hit those wide open receivers. He also happens to fumble as much as any player in the league and the ball somehow manages to bounce right to a player on his team, or who has many potential ints dropped that he puts right in the hand of defenders. Heaven forbid somebody have a down game and romo have to carry the load, which from what we've seen from romo, this team is doomed to mediocrity with him at qb.

And for those who say Im wrong because you dont agree with it, and because nobody knows what will really happen, its just as "foolish" to say he is the "qb to take us to the promised land"

Nah, he's the best guy for this O-line out there. With his scrambling ability he keeps most of the plays alive which in turn gives us the best chance to win. He does need to work on protecting the ball in the process but his OC sets him up to fail more often than not with calling plays that take to long to develop. Order of blame: Injuries-Garrett-then Romo.

I hate the idea that any Cowboy fan thinks anything needs to be said to defend Romo's performance to-date in principle. These 'I'm giving him one more year to prove himself' comments that are cropping up in Romo-threads all over are laughable.

He' one of the best in the league at what he does. We're lucky to have him, and it's embarrassing that a significant portion of our fanbase doesn't realize this.

Do you ever ask yourself why he was given an opportunity after being on the bench???

If he is so bad and the surrounding talent is so great that the team wins because of that surrounding talent and not because of Romo, then why did all the other QBs fail to win the job with such great surrounding talent???

Drew Bledsoe was the starter and was benched mid-season for Romo (who then went to the probowl that year). But if it is your assertion that Romo is crap and the surrounding talent won the games when Romo came off the bench..........then why couldnt that great surrounding talent win with Bledsoe at QB???

See, that is the hole that Beast has now exposed in your logic. If Romo does not help the team win, it is all the surrounding talent.........then why couldnt that surrounding talent win with other QBs like Drew Bledsoe at the helm???

How come the team actually plays worse when Bledsoe or Bollinger or Johnson play Qb instead of Romo if it is the surrounding talent that wins the games, the team should win about the same rate regardless of QB if your logic was correct and it is all about surrounding talent.

Your logic is flawed.
