I hate the idea that any Cowboy fan thinks anything needs to be said to defend Romo's performance to-date in principle. These 'I'm giving him one more year to prove himself' comments that are cropping up in Romo-threads all over are laughable.

He' one of the best in the league at what he does. We're lucky to have him, and it's embarrassing that a significant portion of our fanbase doesn't realize this.

Agreed and admittedly I'm in the anti-Romo camp sometimes (oh boy, that Pittsburgh game). Thing about it is that this is a fanbase that has a sense of entitlement. Having a good QB is not enough, winning in the playoffs is not enough (at this point it should be, but yeah), we want championships.

Favre-lite..... Just as prone to make big mistakes as he is big plays... Will put up a lot of stats.... May have one Super Bowl in him if all remains perfect around him for a entire season.

The responses from the first page are awesome.

:laugh2:

But to answer the question, I would say that I see him as a leader that's about to come into his own soon.

Romo is the Dallas Cowboys IMO.

Dallas has a lot of flaws and Romos abilities hide a lot of those flaws.

A 2.5 year starter who has a LOT to prove this season.

This is the season we find out about Tony Romo.

It takes more then being able to scramble out of trouble and find the open guy in an occasionally spectacular fashion to be consistently succesful.

I can't wait to find out if we really do have a franchise QB. I have hope and even a little faith.

He's a late bloomer, young and TOTALLY immature on the football field. Smart guy off the field, major weakness for blondes. Can turn from coach killer to the next Joe Montana on a dime.

His story is yet to be written, so far the rags-to-riches part has come true.

the football hero part is an utter debacle however.

Flacco benefited from a GREAT defense, locker room leadership & better coaching than what is at valley ranch.

A 6th year veteran QB?

Or a QB that has only been starting for 2 1/2 years?

I think there is a huge difference between watching and studying the game than actually playing in a live NFL game. I'm not giving him any excuses, I'm just simply saying he's still relativly young considering his actual NFL game experience. He played at a mid-major school against mid-major competition. It's a huge step from that into the Pro's. Flacco played at a Div 2 school and struggled his entire first year. We'll see where Flacco is in 3 years.

I'm giving Romo one more year to do his thing. I'm a firm believer that you know who a QB is after his 2nd full year of starting. I'm Romo's biggest fan, and there's nothing I want to see more than him succeed and get that monkey off his back.

Tony Romo NFL and Superbowl MVP in 09!!

A 4th year starter with tons of talent and work ethic but questionable common sense.

Our Savior!

He makes our team exciting to watch. He may get careless sometimes, but I always believe we have a chance to win when he's playing.

For the few naysayer's...go watch some golf, or go root for Philly you bums!

A happy go lucky guy who gets the blame for WR's dropping balls, quitting on routes, and poor O-line performance. Granted he also makes boneheaded plays but so does everyone else that gets pounded consistently. If we lean on the run to take some of the pressure off him, he will take us to the promise land...:starspin

Well put man, you summed up my exact thoughts on the subject.

While he is no where near as talented as Peyton Manning,(I know not many are).... still Romo is following a similar path.

Teams goes to playoffs, the team crumbles around him and then he crumbles too.

Like someone said, Favre-lite, maybe one SB in him if everything is perfect and luck bounces his way.

I view him as a work in progress.

He has the talent but he lacks maturity and wisdom; that will come the longer he plays.

It would be nice if it went there.

BUT we already know he will make those bad decisions resulting in game costing TD's. Very Favre-esque. Favre never really found the cure. Neither will Romo.

i see romo as a qb who's goin to throw for about 3500 yrds 30-35 tds and 10-15 ints in the 2009-2010 season, and in the superbowl when we play the bills he'll throw for 356 yds 3 td 1int as the cowboys defeat the bills 36-16 :laugh2:

To be fair to Favre his GM admittedly didn't get enough quality players around him when he was younger.

Favre could do a lot on his own.

I hope Romo can get at least 1 Superbowl but something tells me that if Dallas could just get the monkey off their back and get 1 then we could possibly reel off 1 or 2 more with Romo.

We have only ourselves to blame for at least not getting to 1 Superbowl. Especially last year.

Maybe, maybe not.

But let Favre be Favre and Romo be Romo.

I wouldn't write Tony's career based on what Favre did.
