I think he's signed up to 2009.

Whenever we do have to re-sign him though, he's going to get a LOT of money.

The cap will be almost $30 million higher by the time Newman will get his new contract. There's no telling.

Newman isn't the best CB in the NFL, Champ Bailey is. I believe he'll be up for free agency after this season so they'll have to fork over some money to keep him around that's for sure. Nate Clements isn't better than Newman, I do know that!

I think Newman needs to get alot more interceptions and give up less big plays than what he did this year.

Newman is not considered in top 5 of conerbacks in the NFL.

Not In Order

Champ Bailey
Ashante Samuel
Rashean Mathis
D'Angelo Hall
Nate Clements

Newman is also older than Clements and Clements is getting his deal now when he is 27.

Newman won't be in line for a big payday until he is 30.

Huge difference.

Given the poster, I probably shouldn't even reply, but statistically, Nate Clements is on par with Anthony Henry.

D'Angelo Hall isn't even in the top 20 corners in the league.

He's contracted through the '09 season. He'll be getting a new contract in 2010, unless he's extended before. That's 3 years of cap increases at $7-10 million per year.

If the Cowboys think Newman is a top 5 CB and can't get him signed, they can just franchise him for a year or 2

I wonder if there are any voidable years there? Here's his base salary through 2009 according to rotoworld.

Good point. After all this craziness the Colts may very well have to franchise Freeney. We can franchise TNew for a couple years if need be and he'll be 32 by then. He can walk after that;)

You mean like the top 30 corners, "Not in order"? Because that's where D'Angelo Hall belongs, if that.

There isn't a CB in the league who can look good when your pass rush sucks.

BTW you have at least 2 maybe 3 guys on your list that shouldn't be there.

Just because Clements got a big pay day, that doesn't make him a top 5 CB

Well Newman should get alot more work since "assuming" Phillips keeps him on the corner instead of the slot in nickel situations.

He should be going up against the best of the best all game long and then we will definitely see what Newman's made of after this season.

Newman has one voidable year (2009). He's ours through the 2008 season, at least.

we probably won't be voiding his '09 year now that a 11 mil contract then will look average
