Carpenter moves to ILB which is more of his position anyway.

it means that Carp will move inside, it speaks more of Bradie James than anybody else

It means that we are going to play a 3-5 next year. That way we will not have a weakness at FS anymore because we will not be playing one on the field. :D

All joking aside it means our linebacker corps is a strength on our team and one of the deepest in the NFL. I wouldn't be surprised to see Carpenter starting in place of Bradie James this coming year.

Do you guys honestly think Carp moves inside or is it just hopeful thinking?

He was OLB in college, right?

In a different system. I think he was a decent OLB last year but he wasn't going to be the answer there. I think he's a better run support guy then a pass rusher which is what you need from that OLB spot.

Wade said that he's gonna practice Carp at both inside and outside

That is what the Cowboy brass is saying.
When was it said? By whom?

Ive heard many hear talk about it and maybe a mention from BP last year but maybe I missed it.

I'm honestly just curious.

4-3 OLB = 3-4 ILB

3-4 OLB = 4-3 DE

Means we will finally have an inside backer who can cover someone.

agreed, after watching the New Orleans debacle which really highlighted B.James .......and then watching Carp do an excellent job of "spying " on Vick and his decent performance in the playoff game..........changes in the wind......

is he as tough against the run as James........dunno......

no, because that doesn't mean Carp is best suited inside
But doesn't it validate the idea that we should draft someone that is better suited outside?

Somebody brought up an interesting idea, I hope this gets to Jerrah; use Bobby Carpenter like New England uses Mike Vrabel... have him do everything, rushing the passer, staying in the box, going out to cover tight ends in nickel formations, just have him constantly moving around, not pigeon-holing him in a certain position; he may be a guy that is not fit for just one mike, sam, and will spot, but EVERY SPOT in the linebacking positions.
