Lol people were saying we have one of thw worst lines in the league. Now with the addition of one guy were the best in the nfc east and so on and so on. Lol

Even w/o Waters, the oline with Leary back would not be worst in league, not even close.

Top of my head-G.Bay, Bears, Detroit, Jets, Steelers, San Diego, Raiders, Philly and Giants are all worse off. Probably a dozen more or so in the middle (Cowboys) than you have the top end like Niners, Bills, Ravens and Browns.

So this is the starting lineup? (when healthy)

LT - Smith
LG - Leary
C - Frederick
RG - Waters
RT - Free

Looks pretty damn good on paper to me, can't wait to see it on the field

Potentially best since the 90s

What you have to understand is.....

People love to panic. They also love to get over hyped, when a few minutes ago they were ready to jump off a bridge.

It's all for show, and attention.

Wow, been away all day, definitely didn't see this coming. So what do we do week 1? Free at RG/Parnell at RT or Bernadeau at RG/Free at RT?

This signing means the world to this offensive line. First it pretty much ends the Free at OG debate ( not really cause writers still need to write something). It also means this O-line has the potential to be a above average to good O-line. An O-line we can not only contend for playoffs but for something more. I'm confident an O-line that starts Smith-Leary-Frederick-Waters-Free will allow our offense to run every play in their playbook and I can vision a 2007 type year for the offense.

However, this is no slam dunk of a deal. Waters is 36 years old and coming off a year in which he hasn't played. Dallas did work him out and they would have to see significant ability in Waters to sign him so late. Another concern is how long will it take Waters to get into not only game shape but to understand our offensive scheme and learn how to play next to Frederick and Free. Keeping him out week 1 is the smart and only logical move, but with a man that is as smart as Waters is and if he's in the shape he is according to reports, I think he will be ready for Week 2. Lets just hope Bernie has some pride and doesn't mail in week 1 as he knows he's headed for the backup G spot.

Having said that Bernie has the potential to be a good swing G. Leary has a knee condition that Dallas will have to monitor and Waters is 36 years old. There's a good chance we are gonna need Bernie at some point in this season. And I believe he can do that.

Man I was getting down the past couple of weeks with the Leary, Ratlif, Spencer injury situation....but this just made my summer. I'm ready for this.....

Flo/Kosier/Gurode/Bigg/Colombo in 2007 was our best since the 90's for the record. Add Free to that group in 2009 at RT and that's tied.

I think this group will perform well and get less penalties than that unit, either way we did go 13-3 that year right?

THIS! Waters immediately improves the run and pass blocking. Immediately. And he will bring more nastiness, savvy and confidence to the OL, which is made up primarily of kids and inexperienced journeymen.

Don't forget Doug Free.
