What Duke Manyweather said about Tyler Booker

I was thinking about that the other day. I'd be disappointed if he's Doug Free but at the same time if he's Doug Free next year that would be a plus for this team.
If Guyton had played RT last season, he would have been better than Doug Free.

Switching from college RT to LT caused most of his issues.

Guyton will be good in 2025 if he stays healthy.

I'm concerned with his build. He's a big boy who was meant to play basketball with his physique. But we will see. I hope it works.

I hear you and I agree with you ,but when you watch Bookers Alabama film he jumps off the screen he looks elite.
That's the thing he doesn't look like a bad measurable guy when you watch his film. I'm not a big measurable guy that wouldn't stop me from drafting someone just kind of shocked he has them.

I think it is best to draft a player based off his playing film not his measurables,Tyler Booker frequently blocks 2 and sometimes 3 defenders on any given play, looks like he has real good feet and movement skills. He is strong too like Beebe and Tyler Smith ,can't wait to watch these 3 play together the tackle play will improve with time.

What Offensive line guru Duke Manyweather said about Tyler Booker was as follows. He is a physical mauler, highly skilled pass protector an earth mover in the running game.Manyweather also states that Booker holds his self accountable for his play as well as the play of his fellow OLineman, he said Booker is a natural leader and is a Tyler Smith clone.I am looking forward to watching Booker join Beebe and Tyler Smith in the middle of this Oline. This guy looks great when he pulls and makes blocks downfield.
Don't think Booker is the natural athlete and agility level as Tyler Smith, but there have been current & past several pro bowl level OGs
that far exceed physical limitations to become cornerstone interiors.

- The leadership type tone and work ethic was supposedly a lead cause in what impressed this club to draft Booker as a first rounder.

- Plus there are OL schemes that the smarter, more clever coaches can implement that best emphasize a players strength and minimizes his weakness.
We just cannot keep having these turnover coaching changes that exposes us to more of the Mike Solari, Paul Alexanders types that are set backs to this
OL unit and development.

- The true key and spotlight for Booker is if he can more than handle a Jalen Carter (Philly) one on one by himself in pass protection.., imo.

Yep they are going to beat up guys. Can’t wait to see it.

I'm not concerned with him physically unless the shoulder issue reoccurs.

At OT, you can lack a little power if your footwork is perfect or vice-versa. But a rookie changing sides that needs to gey a little stronger is in for a tough season.

I reviewed all of his snaps from last season. He often looked really good but 4 bad snaps out of 60 is a fail in the NFL.

Just one false step is all it takes to lose the rep. Step too quickly to the outside and NFL pass rushers will step back inside on a dime.

Doug Free was very weak but had great footwork and very quick feet. Guyton is already stronger than Free ever was. They also compensated for Free by having Zack Martin over-set towards the outside. Frederick didn't need any help on the inside. He could handle power or quickness.

Free did get stronger though. I don't think Guy will get much stronger due to his physique.

It's good to see Duke has the same comparison to Tyler as myself. I remember mentioning it after the draft and a few posters said I was crazy

To me that's a terrible comp,

for one Doug Free was the right tackle that struggled to be good but got solid ,and became just good ,and that's all you need.. he was steady and you can count on him, but he was never a physical specimen basically an overachiever. Was not an athletic freak like Tyron Smith and to some extent Guyton is built more like Tyron Smith...

Doug Free can be looked at more like Terrence Steele both play right tackle both has to fight just to be good, And, if you can find steady Steele once again, Free was that.

he'll never be great he'll never be A Pro Bowler... There's nothing wrong of having a solid steady player that you can count on they don't all need to be Pro Bowlers or Hall of Famers...

Now if you want my comp just right now, I say the Guyton is more like Le'ell collins..... Hopefully without the knucklehead gene..

Collins was never motivated to be good, was an Underachiever, and I don't believe Guyton is going to be that, but just as far as player development goes what you can expect from Guyton even though he's at left tackle now, I think Collins is a better comp, both Have that athletic gift to be really good at their positions but you have to be motivated to be good and we know Collins never was motivated...

From what I've heard Guyton does want to learn, he definitely seems to want to get better, and he wants to be a good player in this league, where Collins lacked motivation, but as far as skill sets go, I think that's what we're looking at.

Hey, that's my opinion... agree to disagree I don't care that's what what I see in him right now...

Well if a a few posters called you crazy, I guess you'll just have to live with that moniker. Cause everybody knows posters on CZ ain't never wrong. j/k

Well, my first impressions looking at his college video I said he looked a lot like Jason Peters or even a guy like Nate Newton just big Mauler it's a big dude not built like Tyron Smith or even a body like Guyton, just big old guards that like to move people and love football...

looks like a prototypical guard to me...

I believe Guyton will get the coaching he needs to improve and as you say he wants to get better.Manyweather could be the influence Guyton needs to turn the corner and become the Offensive Tackle this team needs him to become. He has a good core of linemates around him also this will push him to achieve his potential.

The nfl is filled with OL that were basketball players and a lot of them were TEs first.
I’m not talking about other positions I’m talking about tackle. Doesn’t mean he won’t be good. I’ve just seen guys like him be limited strength wise.
