What exactly has Mike Singletary done?

It's the ABN crew...Anybody But Norv....to them Singletary looks like salvation.

Yeah, probably true.

But probably also ********.

I'm not sure why the "man-love" for Singletary either.

Anybody who could spend a full 8 hours with Jerra would be enough to get the support of some people around here .:D

Did he go into Candlestick on a muddy track and call the slant to Alvin Harper outa the End Zone or did Norv Turner?

I don't know what he's done but I know what he hasn't done. He hasn't been a loser head coach in the NFL for nine seasons and lost total control of two teams. Just an FYI. And for the record, what did Sean Payton and Eric Mangini do before this season? Just curious. Thanks.

So now people that prefer Singletary (no one called him our "Salvation" either) over Norv are ********?

People that think that way are ********.

Preferring Singletary over Norv doesn't mean we think he's our "Salvation". And personally, I just hope we hire him as our DC. And I want Rivera as our HC.

But yeah, not loving Norv as our HC makes you ********.

Now, I wasn't on the sideline, in the coach's box, or have a head set during said game. But all the interviews and "documentaries" about the game say JIMMY called that play.

I like to call it "potential" and it is something that Mike S. has. What has Norv done as a HC in this league that would lead anyone to think he is a good HC in this league?

My memory may have gone awry, but I think Norv wanted to run Emmitt and Jimmy told him to throw it.

Some might call that "courageous".

I call it "stupid". :)
well my dad raised 22 kids and I hardly think he's stupid and my grandparents raised more than seven kids not including grand kids they helped raised and i don't consider them stupid. and if I could afford to have more kids like Mike, my dad, my mom my grandparents i would have 20 kids.....

now if they said he wasn't taking care of them then yes stupid but he seems to be a good father so that was a real stupid post from u calling someone stupid for raising their kids

I know one thing......Mike doesn't have a career record of .410

Thats good enough for me. Ill take Patches O'Hoolahan over Norv.

And Irvin changed it.

He's a mod so it's ok, he can post that.

Seriously, not being critical of the mods or anything, but if I had made that exact post I would of gotten at least a warning from the mods. I've been given a temporary ban for less then that.

Irvin didn't change that play. He switched positions with Harper, but the SAME play was ran.

I just wanna be sure that I'm not missing something here on Mikey Eyes...I just wanna be sure I didn't miss a Super Bowl he helped get a team to as a COACH ...I know he's a spirtual man and has 7 kids and is a determined guy etc etc..but that doesn't tell me much about him as a coach.

As I see it, Singeltary's pluses are:

1) He's a hall of fame linebacker, he ought to have a pretty fair idea about what makes a defense works...

2) He is by all accounts a fiery leader of men... as others have noted, the Boys might be able to feed off such fire...

And his minuses are:

1) No experience whatsoever as either a defensive coordinator or a head coach... a head coach has to be ORGANIZED, has to have the reins to everything in his hands, and it's legitimate to wonder if Mike has those organizational skills... all the "fire" in the world won't help if his team is disorganized and undisciplined...

2) His defensive background is in the 4-3, and the Boys' defensive personnel is not a good fit for that scheme... so if he becomes the head coach, either he'll have to adjust to a defense that he's never played in before, or the Boys will have to take a step or two backward while putting in place the personnel to run Mike's system...

In fairness, Rack, it looks to me like the mods have made a conscious decision to let some stuff slide these past few days that they wouldn't have generally...

I know that I've half expected one mod or another to PM me to tell me I've been gettin' a tad carried away here lately, but the only mod who contacted me did so to share a laugh with me over my confrontational ways... LOL...

Apparantly so cuz I've been warned and banned for far less from this place.

I have more to say about the matter but don't feel like getting banned.

It's pretty unlikely the guy gets 3 HC interviews without the interviewing teams at least determining in advance that he's organized enough to merit consideration for the job.

It's also not entirely fair to ignore his assistant HC status in considering his experience. It might not count for much, but at the very least he's probably involved in meetings that deal with overall coaching responsibilities (ie, the whole team and not just the defense) that other assistant coaches wouldn't be required to attend. He probably has a handful of HC specific duties that have been handed off to him to justify the position, as well.
