A right tackle, youth at RG and experience at LT and center.

It's my belief that the youngsters like Guyton and Beebe just need experience to round into exceptional o-line players. Steele seems to be stuck in a situation where he's unable to get any better, nor become much worse. He's highly replaceable at this juncture. Martin is, evidently, over the hill and due for retirement being his best option in the year yet to come. Tyler Smith is exceptional at LG. He's in for a long, and successful career.

This group just needs time to gel. As long as they stay healthy we should see steady improvement over the course of the season. Realistically that's all we can ask for. .

I hope the Stealers kick their rich butts to the curb. I want them to be embarrassed.

Get all dressed up, looking smooth, coming home like punks!

Experience

Familiarity with each other

Cohesion

However, they will form a successful core within a few seasons.

Besides needing an entire new scheme/game plan, what exactly in our starting 5 lineman are causing us not to get good movement on the defense.

Guyton-Rookie, he needs more time, thrown into the fire far too early.

Tyler Smith- Probably our best lineman right now

Cooper- Rookie, has some toughness, thrown in the fire too early, not his fault

Martin- Not the same player he was in years past, probably won't be playing much longer due to age/skills declining

Steele-Not the same player, excelled in one aspect of blocking, now it seems that he's not excelling in anything!

How does our O-line compare or not to the other O-lines in the NFL that our defense faces? It seems that these lineman are firing off the ball, and they're moving guys out of the way consistently. For our o-line, it seems that on the snap, our guys are getting pushed back, and we're not firing off and staying with our blocks. Please give your thoughts on what you see our O-line struggling with......

more than any other position group, the OL works as a unit (sorry too cliche). but it either all works, or it falls apart and all you need is 1 of 5 to fall apart and it all falls apart. where WRs groups run individual routes and one player open gets it done. same on DL, block 3, the 4th gets through and you are good.... OL has to work in unison. right now there are weak spots and weak spots for some on the OL.

Steele can't move laterally to his right and that's really bad for a RT. he gets beat by anyone who has slight quickness shifting to his right and getting around him, it seems like his feet are in cement shoes. if he gets his hands on you, then he has a chance. Guyton is very very inexperienced and its showing. he started 8 games in college at RT no less, so now he graduates to LT in NFL!!! the second hardest position to play on offese. Martin is not the martin of old. still very good, but he is not dominant as he was. he has slowed down just enough for him to be beat by good DTs. Beebe has been surprisingly good. makes few mistakes. needs a little more power to remind me of fredrick. he plays very smart.

so between Guyton on the left, Steele on the right and occasional breakdown of Martin, somebody is getting through. they don't break down 100% of the time, but enough times that big plays are made by defense.

plus, something is just wrong with our run blocking scheme that its is just not clicking. add to it bunch of meh RBs who are either slow or don't have vision and run game suffers greatly.
