What Flavor Potato Chips

I am amazed at how many of us like the salt & vinegar versions.

We buy a bag of em whenever we go out on the ocean to help settle mild feelings of sea-sickness. Very rarely does anyone get sick, but those chips still never make it off the boat.

Here's another one from Kettle I've tried before and really liked. It won't replace salt and vinegar or jalapeno any time soon, but still a nice diversion:

Spicy Thai™

ginger with ATTITUDE

Reach for your passport and prepare to take a chip trip. We’ve pulled together two Thai classics into an unforgettable flavor excursion you’ll want to write home about. The sweetness and snap of fresh ginger comes together with the red peppery heat of Thai spice to create a collision of East and West in the crunch of the world’s most worldly chip.

I have loved them since I was a kid and our neighborhood ice cream truck used to sell them! My wife knows that she better come home w/ at least two bags everytime she goes shopping!!

BTW, the Italian grinder sub from Subway goes great with sea salt and vinegar chips.

Gotta love the salt and vinegar chips....Ruffles made one....but they are hard to find here. :(
Gotta love the kettle ...sea salt and pepper....or the sea salt and vinegar...

I also got a liking to pringles extreme dill pickle....for some reason...a good full flavor dill and pickle chip is mighty good.... :)

Habenaro Cheetos - been out for about 6 months here, but now they are gone and I can't find them anywheres!!! :(

Also, Lays has a new flavor out - It's tangy carolina bbq. It's a BBQ mixed w/ vinegar -they are GREAT!!!

worcester sauce are always good, pickled onion are another favourite. salt and vinegar are good though i do prefer the fancier variety ie sea salt and balsamic vinegar. also mccoys "mexican chilli" man crisps! http://www.mccoys.co.uk/

That's the big advantage to living in PA and states in the area. PA produces more chips than any other state so we have all these great smaller brands. Troyer Farms, Middlesworth, Wise, Utz, Herr's, Martin's.........., not to mention Snyder's of Berlin's honey mustard pretzel pieces.

I don't eat potato chips since I had that problem with my toe. Some of you might recall that. Turned out I had both type 2 diabetes and chronic tophaceous gout. Almost 6 months and with .. uhm, about 75-80 pounds less of me, carby things like potatoes come in very small doses.

Bacon, OTOH. Now *there* is a snack!! Or pork rinds :flipflop:

Here's a tip for all you tater chip lovers.

Spread a bag of your favorite chips in a single layer on a cookie sheet.
Place in a preheated 300 F oven and bake for 3-6 mins or until warm to the touch.
Remove and immediately sprinkle liberally with any of the following.
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Seasoned salt or pepper
  • Your favorite BBQ rub blend
  • Your favorite spice rub blend
  • Vinegar and course salt
  • Any kind or combination of chili powder/s
  • Ranch dressing mix (the powder kind from the envelope)
Return the seasoned chips to the oven for 2-4 mins to "set" the spice/s you added.
Remove and serve immediately. Your friends will think you've spent hours making fresh, homemade chips.

You're welcome! :p:

you forgot Gibbles, lol

Ok, I have another 1 for you chip freaks.
  1. Melt & temper a good quality chocolate. (If you need to know what tempering is, watch here.)
  2. Take your favorite SALTY potato chips and dip these into the chocolate. Use a fork to turn each chip 2-3 times, making sure you coat both sides well.
  3. Lay the chips out in a single layer on a cookie sheet lined w/ wax paper.
  4. Sprinkle the chips lightly w/ ground anise and ground fennel seed.
  5. Let the chocolate set-up 10-15 mins.
  6. Eat!
You're welcome! ;)

I tried Sea Salt and Viniger chips about a year ago and i haven't really bought anything else ever since. They go great with an Italian Sub.
