The call for tossing Phillips aside for Jason Garrett to coach the team isn't right, and Jerry Jones knows it isn't fair.

If Wade Phillips is indeed being given a fair shot to be the "head coach" then he should have the right to get the defensive coordinator of his choosing.

Stewart was terminated, presumeably by Jones, after Phillips said after the finale that he would be back.

If Capers is in play here, it has nothing to do with Phillips and it has everything to do with Garrett.

That is not fair either.

So I go into an interview with another company and get turned down for a job for not being good/qualified enough, I now have the leverage to walk into my current employer and start making demands? Especially when my current employer knew I was interviewing elsewhere and made no indication they wanted to fight to keep me? Sweet.

Garrett needs to be happy with being the highest paid asst in the league and try to make it work next year so he can get his head coaching shot.

As I have been saying all along this nonsense that only T.O. didn't like this offense or was frustrated was bogus. Terrell has said exactly zero 2 or 3 other Cowboys have not said as well.

Garrett just got rejected not once, not twice, but three times this year in his HC effort and he is now going to limp back home to Valley Ranch and start demanding stuff???

If Phillips is left alone and is not subjected to accepting Capers, he will be okay. I have no doubt about that. He can handle the defense and run it well enough to be competitive.

Garrett on the other hand has to come back and really assert himself. He still needs to prove he can run an offense capable of not just accumulating raw yardage, but closing the deal. He is still prone to strange little hiccups in his playcalling that show he is struggling with the ebb and flow of football games.

Above all, he needs to win over the players.

That is the key to this season. It is not just Owens. It was clear that the offense had less confidence in him late in the year than the defense had in Phillips.

I'm ambivalent on Capers but Garrett getting multiple interviews for HC positions does not hut his marketability.

It would be like you getting several sit downs with execs at the local sanitation company. Even if you didn't get the job it would still be a step in the right direction.
