What gives us a chance

With all the dysfunction and issues we have to deal with this Cowboys fans I'd like everybody's thoughts on what they think gives us a chance to get further.

Jerry's not changing Dak is with us for the foreseeable future and although he is a very good quarterback he is very inconsistent at times and needs help.

It looks like Jerry thinks that help will come in the way of a new offensive coordinator and this may be true.


But I'm going to go on record as saying we need to build a power running game like we had in 2016 where everybody in the building can know we're going to run the ball and we do it anyway and are successful


We also need to draft a dominant defensive tackle.

Outside of an all time great defense we don't have much of a chance with the current group of core players.

It's been established that not even a really good defense is good enough.

I hear you brother and it's a shame to waste this defense cuz it's certainly as good as we've had in a long time it's only a player or two away a dominant defensive tackle and a really good cornerback.

But on the offensive side of the ball Dak just can't be trusted to be consistent enough for us to get further.
I mean he has games where he's absolutely lights out but then other ones just totally scratching your head.

I mean I look at the eagles and they use all four downs many times they get to 4th and one or two they line up that formation everybody knows what they're doing and they get the first down and that is huge.

That kind of power running just deflates other teams when their defense can't get off the field and you can extend drives by being consistent on 4th down that is a big plus.

I hear you but as always it just isn't good enough we need something that takes Dak out of the equation The offensive coordinator out of the equation.

We need power we need mite makes right we need to be active in the draft and free agency and build an offensive line like we had in 2016 that takes no prisoners.

Then we need to draft the right running back not necessarily in the top five pics but in the first three rounds with a head on his shoulders that will let us succeed.

I’m not saying they are great, Super Bowl bound etc

This is very true but it was a game that could have easily been won.

Two of our star players came up small along with our play caller in my opinion and the last play of the game I'm sorry it did not have to be even more embarrassing than the year before.

We need the football for idiots game approach where we can just run the ball so well that we save people from themselves.


We need to make it so when we go to pass there is plenty of separation and it's unexpected because we run so well.

Pretty much we need to make teams respect the run so much that no matter how bad of a game DAk is having he'll be able to complete passes. And if he's having a good game we'll blow teams out of the stadium.

He needs to get active and free agency and get him a good number two receiver also

I love that theory but I think our quarterback play is what it is and sometimes it's really good but sometimes it's just unexplainable and that happens at the worst times it seems.

So in my opinion we need something to safeguard for when that happens because it happens just a little too much for my liking and I don't think I'm alone

With any degree of luck a new offensive coordinator might spark something in a way that Dan Quinn sparked something on the defense.

That said we can only improve the roster so much through the draft if Jerry refuses to become active in free agency it's always going to keep us a player or two away because he just won't go the extra mile to get us over the top.

We had that in 2016. How did it go for us?

About the same distance but it was a hell of a lot more fun to watch.

It gave the feeling that we could go further if Dak was a little more experienced now he's more experienced I'm ready to try again because this whole game plan of DAk trying to pass us to the promised land has gotten old and painful
