What gives us a chance

I keep reading here that we only lost by 7 and we were 1 or 2 good throws away from advancing but failing to consider the team that we “almost beat”, was beaten next by 24 points……yeah, we aren’t as close to being great as some people believe.

scoring 1 Touchdown against the Commanders and 1 against the Niners is the real Dallas Cowboys measuring stick……real contenders don’t perform like that

Outside of an all time great defense we don't have much of a chance with the current group of core players.

It's been established that not even a really good defense is good enough.
Hence the need to draft what we need. Our DT’s proved against the Niners and their run game that they’re good enough. Draft BPA at 26 (LB from Arkansas?) and then RB in the 2nd and go from there. Offer one of the very good DT’s in FA enough to get him here and problem solved.

Long term and unlikely: different organizational structure, better leadership, accountability, and a more talented roster.

Short term and likely: an elite defense and an effective, efficient run game that you don't abandon in the second quarter.
I think we're on the same page

We have no chance. Pick a second favorite team (if you haven’t already).

Doesn’t matter around here. Back to back 12 win seasons and people talk like this team won one game.

I’m not saying they are great, Super Bowl bound etc

but it’s still a playoff team next season in all likelihood
As long as Dak, Lamb, Diggs and Micah are healthy it’s true. They are good enough to win a lot of games.

Okay I can appreciate that.

But hey it's the offseason for us so I figure it's time to do a little bench racing

My 2nd favorite team is rooting against everybody else in the NFC East, the Steelers, Packers and Niners……it’s come down to this, sadly
I'm with you on that and I think I hate the Packers the worst and I hate playing in their frozen tundra Siberia freaking stadium.

No brother I don't think they will change but it doesn't change my thoughts in what would get us further and I believe a power running game might do just that
Good point my man but we have been there so many times i am a firm believer we are going nowhere
this team is a circus

Until Jerry changes I'm afraid nothing will change. I've seen seasons that looked like we had a good future only for the team to under-perform the next year. The only thing we can do is try to sustain this defense and get Dak some offensive weapons. We have to make sure the running game is solid. Dak can't be throwing the ball like he has. I don't think that'll win a SB but it might keep us relevant which is all Jerry cares about anyway.

I can't say you're wrong.
But I do enjoy watching Power running.
There's something about long drives that just break the will of the opponent's defense.

I'm sorry to say but watching Dak throw the ball a lot anymore is taking me back to the Romo era where I cringe to every time he dropped back to pass because I was afraid of what would happen.

I love Dak he was my favorite player but now he puts a knot in my stomach and I really hate it because I don't want to feel that way about him.

At this point I'm just figuring if we take some of the pressure off of him with a running game and help him out maybe it will make things better for him.

With all the dysfunction and issues we have to deal with this Cowboys fans I'd like everybody's thoughts on what they think gives us a chance to get further.

Jerry's not changing Dak is with us for the foreseeable future and although he is a very good quarterback he is very inconsistent at times and needs help.

It looks like Jerry thinks that help will come in the way of a new offensive coordinator and this may be true.

But I'm going to go on record as saying we need to build a power running game like we had in 2016 where everybody in the building can know we're going to run the ball and we do it anyway and are successful

We also need to draft a dominant defensive tackle.

What gives us a chance? The NFL scriptwriters from the 90s need to get their kids involved in the program and have them write in Dallas as champions before the season starts again. But I hear those kids already have kids of their own and are too busy, hence the 28 seasons of futility. Damn.

I agree..,Dak is a very good QB....he can be a great game manager but needs a running game to help his play action passing. This combination and a top notch defense can take us where we want to go.

Down by 7, the ball is in Daks hand. I don’t have confidence in him winning the game for us. It will have to be defense that wins it.
