We have a better chance than 85% of the teams in the league. Closer to 95% contingent on fixing the RB situation and injuries!

That’s because our QB always seems to crap the bed in these games
I believe that is why we need a failsafe running game because if he shows the earmarks of having one of those games we can rely on the run

Doesn’t matter around here. Back to back 12 win seasons and people talk like this team won one game.

I’m not saying they are great, Super Bowl bound etc

but it’s still a playoff team next season in all likelihood
12 win seasons and making the playoffs is all good and it met my expectations.

But getting to a super bowl is not a bad thing and kind of what we are all striving for so I don't think it's a bad idea to discuss what gives us a chance to go a little further since we have already gotten to the playoffs and a win under our belt.

It's about assessing our strengths and weakness and figuring out what we need to do to get over the hump and take that next step and I believe it's a power running game. Along with a dominant defensive tackle to stop the oppositions running game

Better luck will go along way toward helping their chances. Yes, some luck is important, for all teams.

I hear you but as always it just isn't good enough we need something that takes Dak out of the equation The offensive coordinator out of the equation.

We need power we need mite makes right we need to be active in the draft and free agency and build an offensive line like we had in 2016 that takes no prisoners.

Then we need to draft the right running back not necessarily in the top five pics but in the first three rounds with a head on his shoulders that will let us succeed.
As long as the 2 idiots we have at the top nothing will change it has been so many years like that do you really think all of the sudden thing will start to change?

No brother I don't think they will change but it doesn't change my thoughts in what would get us further and I believe a power running game might do just that

I think Dak will always come up short no matter the talent around him. He just doesn’t have the it factor. As long as Jerry keeps pushing on with Dak as QB, playoff divisional round is gonna be the best we can hope for.

Only chance is drafting a Elite QB while benching your 40 million mistake.

With all the dysfunction and issues we have to deal with this Cowboys fans I'd like everybody's thoughts on what they think gives us a chance to get further.

Jerry's not changing Dak is with us for the foreseeable future and although he is a very good quarterback he is very inconsistent at times and needs help.

It looks like Jerry thinks that help will come in the way of a new offensive coordinator and this may be true.

But I'm going to go on record as saying we need to build a power running game like we had in 2016 where everybody in the building can know we're going to run the ball and we do it anyway and are successful

We also need to draft a dominant defensive tackle.

Thoughts
Mmmm, what would give us a chance? maybe a QB that doesn't choke,I'd start there.

Hey all I want is an o-line as powerful as we had in 2016
And a runner like OJ Simpson or Jim Brown in their prime and if nothing else I would at least have great football to watch.

I'm sorry folks but Tony romo's ill-timed interceptions wore on my patients and I hate to say it but Daks are starting to do the same thing.
When he came into the league it was like a breath of fresh air he was the ultimate in ball security and that 2016 season was pure entertainment and gave me hope.

That's a possibility but not sure we could achieve it where we are going to draft this year but hey anything can happen.

Still a power running game is not a bad thing for a young quarterback to have in his pocket till he gets his NFL legs under him

Let's deal with the elephant in the room 1st, Dak has to play better if we are to go further. Someone has to drill it into his head if the plays not there throw it away or better yet take off running.

Then let's deal with the captain obvious solution. Draft the best run stuffing DLineman available. If we can get a linebacker that would be nice. If we hit on an offensive lineman great.

Lastly I want us to go hard in free agency Sort of like a D Hop He's trying to get out of that dumpster fire in Arizona. Between free agency and the draft we can get it done, will we ?

Agreed but we are pretty much committed to DAk as he has a no trade clause and a 40 million salary.
We could draft somebody and leave him sit but I am really kind of thinking Jerry is not going to do that.

I think it may be easier to get him more help until his contract allows us to do something else

Long term and unlikely: different organizational structure, better leadership, accountability, and a more talented roster.

Short term and likely: an elite defense and an effective, efficient run game that you don't abandon in the second quarter.

Great points I agree.

He used to make ball security a priority he used to throw it away and he used to run the ball.

He got injured he got paid and his game changed
At times his passing looks much improved from when he first came into the league other times it just leaves me scratching my head.

He is so inconsistent I just don't know what fixes it other than us not having to be dependent upon it and being able to run the ball

The Boys were 1 player and 2 throws from advancing in the post season, in my opinion, there's hope.

Nice to have a "perfect" team but sometimes, sometimes, you need that intangible "luck".

We all know what we need on D, especially the DL.

I'd love the day we can say we got too much talented offensive linemen.

Yup, the trenches.
