The skinny post, slants, outs, and out-and-up, what happen to these routes? What happen to our power running game?
In my opinion we operated too much out of the shotgun and we incorporated too many spread offense philosophies into the timing base offensive system. For example, when you bunch our big WRs in a trips open look it plays to the strength of the defense because the bunch is typically reserved for smaller quicker WRs.
Currently, I am disappointed in Red and if he doesn't leave for a HC gig, I hope he gets back to what made the timing base offense so effective. Also, Wade had better keep Red's ego in check and make sure that we are run committed team. I like TO/R. Williams/Witten but our offensive line is built to run and wear teams down. It is kind of hard to work on a defensive line when you are in a constant backpeddle trying to get in a pass pro set. The entire team needs to do some soul searching but the offensive side and special teams need to do extra.
In the NFL you win consistently by winning two of the three keep match ups between Defense, Offense, and Special Teams. For the more part the defense took care of their responsibilities and contributed effectively. Getting rid of Bruce is a good start but Red better take notice because his play calling needs a great deal of improvement if we are going to get over the December hump.
