Thats my most concerning thing when it comes to the Cowboys. Back in 2008 we traded for Roy Williams. Back in 2018 we traded for Amari Cooper.
The recency of the NFL. Teams that are active in both free agency and the trade market seem to have success. The rams, eagles, the 49ers, the lions, ravens, bills, packers.... and there are many more. PFF had a top 20 in terms of free agent signings from last year, and were not even close to being on it. When jerry used to make trades we all thought he was crazy, but at least he went for it. Now? We're not even close to brining in a big time free agent or making. a big time trade.
Back in 2023 the Gilmore and cooks moves worked out pretty well. Why not at least more of those? I get it dak has a big cap number this year. But try and get creative. Go out, get myles garret. Draft the best DT and RB available, and this team doesn't look so bad. It's the nfl, a lot can change in a year. If we were actually "all in" we could make some noise. But we choose not to be.
