What happened to "going for it"

It's Stephen. He gets in Jerry's ear and convinces him that any move is too risky. That's why we remain in football purgatory. Afraid to do anything to improve the team beyond the basic draft. I would love to punch Stephen in his fat face

Yeah thats kinda my point. Jerry would at least look to take a risk once in a while. We didn't always like it, but for example getting Cooper was a good move.

I still have the opinion the Jones's think they can be the pats at the beginning of their dynasty, with interchangeable moving parts, and still win. Only issue with that is they had probably the greatest quarterback and coach of all time.

This thread is like screaming at Windmills. We all know Jerry is the problem. The last time he did the right thing was when he hired and listened to Parcells. Folks, that was Romo and Wittens rookie year.

Why he won't hire a GM is pure malpractice. The entire league knows he is the Cowboys biggest issue and the primary reason we are in the shape we are in. Just look at trading a number 4 draft pick this year for Mingo when he was going to be cut during the offseason.

I expect another bad year is in the cards . We are listed as already being over the cap for next year and we have the 3rd most free agents in the league this coming off season.

Cowboys philosophy is to build through the draft. They are a drafting team. Cowboys fans should be happy. At least they aren't trying to emulate which ever team wins the super bowl like they did back in the early 2000s

Here is what you should hope for: hope that this years draft is at lest as good and immediately impactful as 2018. Hope that the 23 and 24 drafts start to show some dividends in 2025. There is room and should be hope for improvement from at least the 2024 class

Those FA that the team signed under Parcells largely did not work out and now Stephen is shy when it comes to free agents

The goal has changed. Before, the goal was to win on the field. Now it to win at Forbes.

Jerry thinks he is winning. And he doesn't care about the fans. It's just the sad reality of our situation now.
If you watch what he says in the trailer for his upcoming documentary you’ll understand a lot more.

365 day a year soap opera
Field results are secondary
Keep ‘em talking

You all keep saying this but with no basis. Just because they haven't won doesn't mean they haven't tried. Outside of this past season at least. I don't really know what that was.
Ever since 2013 the Cowboys went to a new build through the draft philosophy. This past season was just a variation of what they've been doing since 2013. The trade for Cooper was the only deviation.

The Cowboys draft, and get bums from FA to fill holes. On occasion trade for a player well past his prime. That's it every year.

Thats my most concerning thing when it comes to the Cowboys. Back in 2008 we traded for Roy Williams. Back in 2018 we traded for Amari Cooper.

The recency of the NFL. Teams that are active in both free agency and the trade market seem to have success. The rams, eagles, the 49ers, the lions, ravens, bills, packers.... and there are many more. PFF had a top 20 in terms of free agent signings from last year, and were not even close to being on it. When jerry used to make trades we all thought he was crazy, but at least he went for it. Now? We're not even close to brining in a big time free agent or making. a big time trade.

Back in 2023 the Gilmore and cooks moves worked out pretty well. Why not at least more of those? I get it dak has a big cap number this year. But try and get creative. Go out, get myles garret. Draft the best DT and RB available, and this team doesn't look so bad. It's the nfl, a lot can change in a year. If we were actually "all in" we could make some noise. But we choose not to be.

What happend?

The Joneses are sated.
