The first Tool album is quite underrated I think. Lots of good riffs.

I dig Jack Whites playing and I'd say he's pretty legit guitarist/songwriter/producer.

i finally wrote up my own article on this. more about rock NOT being dead and good music is out there. the days of it being packaged and brought to you are over however. FM won't bring you joy anymore.
