Not sure why exactly, but Mickey only writes about 1x a week nowadays. Up to 2008, he wrote several times a week, but now it's just once. I think he is the editor of the site as well now. Seems Nick Eatman has taken over the lead columnist role.

Eatman? If he's so good why was he available?

I met Mickey last year at a Cowboys Radio Road show. I mentioned about how I read his columns and he muttered something about how "they don't want me to write on the site any more".

Are you implying that nothing negative written about this team is justified?

Sure. Why not. You spew enough negativity as it is. Are you sure you're not secretly interviewing for BSPN?

And that's still 1x too many.

Mickey is just the mouthpiece for the organization. I'd rather have objectivity than read insider spin. Even so, that wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for his overly condescending tone also.

I thought Eatman was starting to get a lot more visible than his boss. Maybe Mickey is Eatman's "Former boss". Corporate is as corporate does huh?

Mickey is a pretty good writer, yes he is a homer but since almost every other writer, local and national, writes negative stuff about the team just to get ratings and readers, I sometimes like reading positive stuff about the Cowboys.

And like I said before, he is a much better writer than most of them.

Right on....I like reading and listening to him too. Too many negative media players here. Now sometimes they have their good points, but usually even the good things they put a negative spin on it.

I lost both my fist in a tragic rock/paper/scissor match ..... do not mock me.

Well then, I'd challenge you to a butt-kicking contest, but I had this unfortunate accident with a tractor, and I only have one leg left...

Hey, maybe we could have a head-butting contest, see which one of us has the hardest head!!! Because of my leg issues, we'd have to start out sitting, of course...

That's true. He's a tool.

...A helpful tool in our Cowboyzone shed.

Dont know why people hate on Mickey.

I love listening to him because you are able to get a feel for what the organization really thinks about a player.

Anyone Mickey bad mouths means the organization is souring on him.

People need to learn to use Mickey's opinion as a tool.

Good one. I have him on video saying that it was Anthony Spencer's fault on the Greg Olsen touchdown. And this was after everyone already knew it was Brooking who didn't get the check from Bradie.

Mickey is at Valley Ranch everyday and hasn't broken a story in 20 years.

of Mick and I'll always be thankful to him for filling the void through the Dallas Cowboys Weekly and later on " The Insider " when the internet wasn't either available ( Cowboys Weekly ) or it wasn't what it is today.

You people that rag on him, more than likely, never experienced what it was like to get Dallas Cowboys news but once a week ( DCW ) during the season, once per month during the off-season, and later on three times per week with The Insider. Mick was considered a god to those of us starving for Cowboys news back in those days.

As far as his style is concerned, it's a bit different from a newspaper writer or columnist. He gets paid by the team, so he can't be " Randy Galloway ". However, he's not a complete " homer " like some of you make him out to be. He'll come down hard on the players when they deserve to, but mostly, his job is to tell us what, basically, the coaching staff and front office is thinking. He was one of Tuna's mouthpieces, which is not an easy club to get in as a writer ( Burger King from CNN, Francesa from the Fan in New York, and some other guy from NJ that I can't remember his name, are the few that I know of ) and although he might not have broken stories, he'll always give you " their " reasoning behind every move.

Personally, I not only want to know what happened, and the Randy Galloways' type opinions, I also want to know " why ", and Mick is good at that.

Mickey's articles would be a lot more tolerable if he'd remove the Clueless-esque "like" from every paragraph. He's 60 years old and writes with the tone of an adolescent arguing with their parents.
