Is anyone else wondering what happened to the offense we saw against Denver, that was basically unstoppable. The past 2 games it just seems like they are flat. No shots down field at all. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me? If this has already been posted i apologize

I think it has been addressed indirectly: The blitz.

Washington and Philly both gambled on blitzing Tony relentlessly and, so far, it has worked. If Dallas can do a better job of capitalizing on mismatches when the other team blitzes, there will be bigger plays.

this is where we need a ton of screens. its how the saints beat the blitz.

They are blitzing right up the middle, tony has very little time to get the ball down the field, the oline has to play better.

Denver has the worst pass defense in the league....

Yep. Free blizers coming in are causing a lot pf problems.

It creates potential for big plays, but you have to do it. Burn them, and the defense will be forced to back off. Dunbar may be helpful in this regard. Not to pick up the blitz, but as a receiver. Romo needs to see where the blitz is coming from quicker and get rid of the ball faster than he has been in the past 2 games.

Two things.

Against Washington, Haslet decided to go for broke and blitz most every play. I'm confident Dallas would have made him pay, but the two big returns by Harris kind of made it a moot point and kept the offense on the sideline.

Against Philly, Dallas played the game on the field. They could have EASILY hit 24+ if needed, but it wasn't needed. They saw that the Philly offense was bottled up, and played smart field position. The wind was also very tricky, which gave both QBs issues and influenced Garrett to punt instead of trying 50-yard field goal.

Washington's Haslett seems to know how to play Dallas. A win is a win, but he does a good job of keeping us out of synch.
The screen game could help and I think if the bitzing keeps coming and the WRs still can't seperate, then Romo will need to do a better job of adjusting in real time. Of course (and I know he was badly injured, but..) in game 16 last year, they blitzed like madmen too, and that one ended badly on a screen checkdown.

As for Philly, everyone seems to be overlooking how much the wind was blowing there. Plus, no Murray and it was a road game--whcih always seems to mean a more conservative game plan.

Again
I'll take the 2-0 record.

I think you guys are looking outside instead of inside. I think Garrett is basically a conservative coach and game plans that way. When preparing for the Broncos, I think the staff decided the only way to win was to go for broke on offense. Garrett opened it up and they had success against a not very good defense. They have since gone back to a more conservative approach with an emphasis on not making mistakes and they have faced better defenses. Combined, that has resulted in a less explosive offense.

I think without Murray in there. The gameplan changes a bit. Blitz pickup has been an issue with the RB's.

Also, agree with Erod.

I think this gets lost a lot in the shuffle. We, as a fanbase, i think are grossly underestimating what a huge difference maker Murray was in pass protection

I think it has been addressed indirectly: The blitz.

Washington and Philly both gambled on blitzing Tony relentlessly and, so far, it has worked. If Dallas can do a better job of capitalizing on mismatches when the other team blitzes, there will be bigger plays.

Bingo. When we keep Tony upright our offense seems unstoppable. The last 2 games he has been on his back far too much.

Yeah and i'm shocked we haven't seen more screens and slants when these blitzes occur. But that's been the biggest difference. Great gameplanning by the DC's.

I have no problem with the game plan the last two games. We won both by 2 touchdowns. Like Erod said you play the game on the field.

I actually see us better at halftime adjustments than we've been in a long time. Except for the chargers game we have been coming out sharp offensively in the 2nd half.
